ID:	3416A recent story on NPR was an interview with Tom Vanderbilt, a writer for Slate magazine. He said something that made me stop in my tracks! "Americans now walk the least of any industrialized nation in the world."

That's a terrible thing for us to lead the pack on! He attributes part of the problem to how we design our towns and cities -- it is far more convenient to travel by car and sometimes it's downright dangerous to be a pedestrian. This is something we definitely need to put more attention to as individuals and as communities.
