Tighter, Smoother Skin For Everyone

May 15, 2001

News: What a busy year! ABC TV has kept T-Tapp busy in Texas and now in Philadelphia, PA. Hope all of you can come to our free seminar June 1st, full day of fitness June 2nd AND maybe even a free workout Sunday morning, June 3rd in Philadelphia. I'm working on getting a permit to exercise on the Rocky Stairs at Fairmont Park! Can you image T-Tappin' with "Rocky" music during Primary Back Stretch? I'll send a news flash as soon as I secure the permit!

New certified T-Tapp Trainer! Congratulations to Sherry Richards for passing the Personal Training IFPA (International Fitness Professionals Association) final exam. This was her final step to acquire certification as a T-Tapp Trainer. Most of you know she lives in Houston, Texas BUT she's going to be hosting a fitness event in Raleigh-Durham, NC on June 8th. Morning session will be from 9 am to noon. Afternoon session will be from 1 to 4 pm. Each session, if pre-registered, is only $39.00! You can pre-register and/or get additional information by contacting Sherry at sherry@t-tapp.com. Sherry really knows her stuff, has excellent form and is a natural at teaching. "S-Team" rules in Texas. Welcome aboard Sherry – I’m thrilled to have you on our team.

Other T-Tapp Trainers: T-Tapp is growing! Thanks to all of YOU (T-Tappers are the BEST) word has spread quickly this past year and I am happy to announce that T-Tapp's expansion is scheduled to open soon in Canada (Toronto) as well as in Germany.

With this growth the demand for Certified T-Tapp Trainers has increased, BUT I won't sacrifice quality of instruction. In fact, I want to assure that when receiving advice you are getting it by Certified T-Tapp Trainers. A lot of requirements must be completed to be an officially certified T-Tapp Trainer. In addition to formal education and/or national recognized fitness institution certification by IFPA, ACE or Cooper Aerobic Institute, T-Tapp Trainers must complete T-Tapp requirements of submission of 2 personal training videos doing the T-Tapp Total Workout (one alone as well as another showing training of another person doing the T-Tapp Total Workout), completion of 8 hours of training with me one-one-one as I test knowledge on each and every movement of the Total Workout, along with Personal Profile testing by my Human Resource department. T-Tapp is more than a workout – a lot of depth is involved with correct physiological technique.

That's why my staff and/or I offer free assistance to answer questions via email or toll free phone. However, ONLY Certified T-Tapp Trainers are allowed to host fitness events, seminars, or offer one-on-one advice for a fee. T-Tapp is designed as a complete, at home fitness program but attending fitness events and having training sessions with Certified T-Tapp Trainers can, and does, take you to a new level of awareness/perfection with even greater results. BUT T-Tappers helping other T-Tappers is OK – in fact, I think it is fabulous... but when money is charged, one must be certified or it becomes a legal violation of copyright. I can, and will pursue violators.

I am happy to announce current Certified T-Tapp Trainers and their email addresses:

Lani Muelrath - lani@t-tapp.com
Amy Grant - amy@t-tapp.com
Stephanie Bridges - stephanie@t-tapp.com
Julie Karnes - julie@t-tapp.com

Verena Trautmann will be coming to Philadelphia along with 7 days in Florida for final certification – our first Certified T-Tapp Trainer in Germany! Once certified, you can contact her at verena@t-tapp.com. T-Tapp trainers-in-training are as follows: Emily Richter (emily@t-tapp.com), Melissa Poe (melissa@t-tapp.com), Sharon Seline-Wright (sharon@t-tapp.com) and Dawn Batsche (dawn@t-tapp.com). There are 4 more applicants that are in beginning stages of becoming a T-Tapp trainer-in-training that I will announce upon achievement to next level.

Please note: Only certified trainers and trainers-in-training get email addresses at t-tapp.com and I will post a list of who's certified on my home page. Also note: Only Lani has the proper knowledge, university degree and certification to be able to offer advice over the telephone and charge for it! She developed a "Tele-T-Tapp" program that has helped many T-Tappers – you can contact her at lani@t-tapp.com for more information.

Web Site Update: "T-Tapp Mommy Fitness - Before, During and After" has been updated and will be a regular feature of the T-Tapp website.

Stephanie Bridges and Amy Grant are certified as T-Tapp Mommy Fitness Trainers and will be co-hosting this special section with articles, trimester tips, and specific shape up tips before, during and after pregnancy. Stephanie did T-Tapp Total Workout, Hit the Floor and a variety of Mini Max workouts throughout her entire third pregnancy, so she has first hand experience how it feels to do T-Tapp as baby grows each and every month. She even did a Mini Max workout the night before delivery!

Last of all, I am thrilled to announce that T-Tapp is moving forward towards clinical/controlled studies for substantiation within the medical community... this is another reason why I have been spending so much time in Houston, TX (home of Baylor Institute and M.D. Anderson Cancer). So far the two areas of study/collection of data are: glucose control for standardization within the National Diabetic Association and statistics revealing pattern of increased formation of T-Cell count for those undergoing chemo/radiation treatments. Results so far indicate increased T-Cell count within 6 to 8 weeks. Glucose levels are showing a pattern of dropping 62 to 85 points within minutes of doing Primary Back Stretch and/or Hoe Downs. Read Aimee Dubuisson's testimonial under "more than a workout" at www.t-tapp.com/success (http://www.t-tapp.com/success).

She was hospitalized with out of control blood sugar in 440 range – then she discovered T-Tapp, lost 10 3/4" in two weeks AND dropped blood sugar to a stable 100! This is very exciting for me and I am willing to go through correct protocol to substantiate these patterns into clinical proof with controlled studies.

Since there are many physicians receiving T-Tapp newsletters, I'd like to invite your participation (if interested) especially endocrinologists and/or oncologist. OR if you suffer from Type 2 Diabetes or have difficulty maintaining your glucose level and would like to monitor your own progress with correct paperwork please email me teresatapp@t-tapp.com.

I am also pleased to announce IRS recognition that percentage of all T-Tapp sales (gross, not net) will be donated to benefit the Lymphedema Association and/or the Diabetic Association to assist education of importance of the lymphatic system and "neuro-kinetic flow" even when healthy. As I've said many times prevention is so much easier than repair, but now it's known that the T-Tapp System does make a difference... it's definitely more than a workout!

Tip: It's not always what you do, but what you don't do – to maintain skin elasticity.

Since ABC TV did a story on the CRT Skin Tightening System and it has been the featured product of the month, I wanted to elaborate other tips you can do to help accelerate the growth of collagen and skin elasticity. Previously I've spoken about how the American Dermatology Association has clinically proven that the nutrients within the Premium Blended Alfalfa reverses aging of the skin with increased collagen production (published in May 1999 medical journal), but there are many other little tips you can do (and NOT do) for your skin.

First of all, increase mineral supplementation – both internally as well as topically. Loss of skin elasticity results from lack of minerals, not vitamins... this is why many spa resorts offer mudpacks, seaweed wraps, etc. for skin rejuvenation.

When models used to come stay with me in South Beach Miami, I would tell them to take a 15 minute soak/swim in the ocean daily... but you can duplicate this at home with a once or twice a week mineral salt soak in the bathtub. Dead Sea Mineral Salts are the best with highest mineral content (we offer "Ahava" brand through our web store BUT you can purchase these at your local health food store!). However, even Epsom salts will help. FYI, salt also assists your skin to detox – the primary function of your skin is elimination. This is why seaweed wraps are used for improving skin texture – when done on a regular basis it does improve elasticity and texture. BUT if you are not able to do weekly soaks in the tub or seaweed wraps, that's ok.... you can greatly help your skin repair itself by avoiding chemicals that break down the skin.

Ever wonder why we take such care to wear rubber gloves when cleaning our bathrooms/kitchens with chemicals such as bleach, yet we immerse ourselves for hours at a time in Jacuzzis and swimming pools? If you must use either of these, try not to stay in the water for very long AND be sure to rinse as quickly as possible!! You can also gain great benefit from swimming in fresh water lakes/ponds... go barefoot in the dirt, let your feet sink into the muddy bottom... it is really quite healthy. If you are lucky enough to have well water... then enjoy the natural minerals it offers your skin to soak up, but if you are on city water (which often has chlorine and other chemicals in it) try adding a little salt, essential oils or something with phytic acid in it (derived from brown rice) to neutralize the water and assist the skin.

Ways to increase mineral supplementation internally: colloidal minerals are available by the quart in most health food stores, "Cellfood" drops added to daily water intake provide all 72 minerals as well as enzymes, amino acids and oxygen, and "Body Balance" by Lifeforce provides all the vitamins and minerals you need with just one ounce a day.

However, many people in America are not familiar with the damage iron causes skin when it interacts with our natural dermis HCL... this is why women in Paris NEVER wash their faces with tap water... only with distilled water or "Evian" mineral water. This is also why Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Company did 5 years of research and development on a product called Enfuselle Hydrating Toner, which immediately neutralizes iron on the skin with its magical natural ingredient "phytic acid" that hydrates the skin at the same time. I really like this product – it is available through Shaklee (Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Company now owns Shaklee) and I offer it at discount to my T-Tappers. But when checking ingredients on any toner, look for Phytic Acid – that's the secret and it really makes a difference! Use before moisturizer to maximize results of moisturizer. I use it on my neck, back of hands and neckline as well as my face twice a day (hey I'm a baby boomer and we boomers want to look as young as possible!). It’s also great for elbows. If you're already using this product, try this tip... after wiping your skin, use the same pad to wipe your faucet... watch the mineral deposits come off immediately. I was amazed (great for delicate or plated fixtures) – doesn't harm the finish, just removes the lime!

Additionally, I have previously spoken about a product called "Fruit of the Earth" clear aloe gel (not the green or blue) that is available at most drug stores, even Wal-Mart for only $6.00 for 12 oz. Use after every shower, bath or even after a dip in the ocean... it naturally helps skin elasticity/texture. If you have dry skin or want to moisturize you'll want to add lotion or oil afterwards, BUT don't use oils/lotions that contain alcohol (even most baby oils have alcohol!). Try using Pure Almond Oil from your local health food store. Many models use olive oil... but if you want immediate results of smoother, softer skin use "Crisco". That's right; "CRISCO" the vegetable shortening you get in the baker's isle in the grocery store. Dermatologists use this on their patients skin right after laser surgery! It will not clog pores and the skin fully assimilates it... plus as an added bonus, it doesn't have any "scent" to interact with your favorite perfume (it won't make you smell like a salad either!). I know one supermodel that customizes her vegetable shortening with drops of her signature scent perfume. She pre-mixes and she stores in decorative glass jars and lets other people think its "expensive" body cream. I use "Crisco" on my elbows, knees and heels. If elbows and/or knees are really rough, put some vitamin C+E cream on first, then the "Crisco"... see a difference within a week!

Cleansing is another area of what not to do and it's sometimes more important than what you do. It is now known that over cleansing/over medicating often creates more problems rather than helping to improve the skin. Don't use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide straight on your skin. And don't use harsh cleansers to strip oil or residue from the face. If you have oily skin or problematic skin it is now known that over cleansing will stimulate your pores to produce more oil. Stay away from "laurel sulfate". The American Dermatology Association only recommends one cleanser - "CETAPHIL" - for its mild, cleansing and softening capability. After a full day of wearing make-up I'll wash my face with "Dr. Bonner's Peppermint Castille Liquid soap" (available at health food stores) followed by one more cleansing using "Cetaphil". For morning I only use "Cetaphil" followed by Enfuselle Hydrating Toner and Enfuselle Vitamin C+E P.M. Repair.

Special attention can be done for blemishes with a dab of lavender (red goes away and healing time is faster). I use Bulgarian Lavender and Grapefruit essential oil on my chin the week before my monthly cycle to prevent hormonal blemishes – this might work for you too (ah, the joys of perimenopause). This also seems to help me relax any anxiety tension (deadlines, deadlines!).

Grapefruit essential oil helps tone oily or acne-prone skin. Its been proven to decongest clogged pores and tighten the skin. It also helps detox the liver (add a couple drops to drinking water) and helps eliminate excess fluid retention. Makes water taste good too! If you tend to use food to feed your emotions (I think we've all been there, done that!), Grapefruit is an excellent oil to have in a vaporizer or daily massage blend to discourage this type of eating. I put a few drops on my wrist to sniff throughout the day. I also own 3 black rope necklaces that have a small decorative vial (each holds one essential oil... Bulgarian Lavender, Grapefruit and Peppermint) that are perfect to sneak a sniff whenever necessary! You can usually find these special necklaces in health food stores.

Notice that the leading cosmetic companies in America are now starting to advertise the importance of copper (another mineral) as well as vitamin C in their better moisturizers? Well, Zinc is just as effective and you can get this along with vitamin C (plus E) in a cream I highly recommend called Enfuselle C+E P.M. Repair. It's clinically proven to have the highest amount of vitamin C assimilation for optimal skin rejuvenation of any other product on the market today. I use Enfuselle C+E P.M. Repair on my face both morning and evening even though it is advertised as an evening repair lotion... if you'd like to receive a free sample to try, I'd be happy to send you one – just email your request at teresatapp@t-tapp.com or call 1- 800-42-0717. Many have commented when they see me in person that they can really see the difference in the elasticity of my skin (especially my neck) from my first videos, T-Tapp Total Workout, compared to my recent Maxi Max videos or when seeing me in person. And to think I used to spend $75.00 for "C'Esta" vitamin C serum! Not only is Enfuselle C+E P.M. Repair 30% less in price, it is much more effective – I saw visible results within 1 week!

If you're really trying to improve your skin elasticity, you might want to take additional vitamin C and Zinc supplementation. These 2 ingredients consumed together stimulate collagen formation – if you're taking a multi-mineral supplement, I suggest that you add vitamin C supplementation 500 mg 2x a day (10 am and 2 pm with food). I personally use "Immune Boost" which has vitamin C, Zinc and Grapeseed extract to boost the body's immune system and cellular reproduction (it's great at zapping a cold within 3 days). Ester-C and Shaklee are two other brands of vitamin C that I take.

Regarding stress – yes, this culprit will definitely AGE your skin! I know it's difficult to remove stress from one's life, BUT during stressful times I suggest increasing intake of vitamin B-complex to offset vitamin B depletion (B-complex also helps the body process carbohydrates instead of converting them to fat). Take 2 capsules per day (10 am and 2 pm with food). I personally like 3 different formulations: Country Life "Co-enzyme B-Complex" capsules (available at health food stores), Shaklee's new formula which has more Folacin, or Natural Energy's formula available by Graydon Collins (1-425-486- 5956). Got dark circles under your eyes? Use spray B12 (Mayor Pharmaceuticals) – it works! However, spray B12 immediately increases energy, so don't take at bedtime.

Last of all, BRUSH your body every day! Any type of body brushing is beneficial but the CRT brushing pattern offers additional health benefits AND delivers faster results. Use a firm natural plant fiber brush – you don't have to "scrub" your body – and use light to medium strokes brushing towards the heart. If you battle cellulite, keep lower body in "KLT" position while brushing and add extra strokes in lymph node centers. If you want even faster results both in skin tightening as well as in cellulite control, then do Primary Back Stretch prior to brushing and again right before bedtime. Primary Back Stretch helps the body in a multitude of ways and when combined with the CRT System using the Premium Blended Alfalfa and Fibertox – most women report that lumps on their bosom disappear within 4 to 6 weeks. In fact, Primary Back Stretch is being considered by NIH for clinical studies (as well as another medical institution) to substantiate its lymphatic and neuro-kinetic properties for healthy breast tissue. Discover the difference body brushing makes... work with your body to help stimulate its ability to repair itself and you'll gain internal benefits as well as outer!

So drink your water (add some Grapefruit essential oil or squeeze some lemon juice in it to make it taste better and to assist your lymphatic system), brush your body, take a salt soak, supplement, mineral masque your face once a week and moisturize... you DESERVE it!

See you in June with tighter, smoother skin!

Best wishes,

Teresa Tapp
