(San Francisco) — Gaining more than 50 pounds during pregnancy, and not losing the excess weight post-pregnancy, could triple a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer after menopause, according to a study conducted by researchers at Lombardi Cancer Center in Washington, DC, and in Finland. Pregnancy weight gain of 40 pounds increased breast cancer risk by 40%. The findings are to be presented April 9 at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting in San Francisco. See link below for full story.
