Start Each Day With A Grapefruit

News

After receiving several requests for help with stretch marks and scars, I have finally found a product that actually works! It is called MEDERMA and is a topical gel formulated just for scars. What I like about this product is that it is not a drug.

MEDERMA is formulated with a proprietary botanical extract and other safe ingredients, is greaseless and even pleasant smelling. It is primarily networked through plastic surgeons and dermatologists. I received it from my dermatologist, Dr. Susan Poper, and have been using it on a facial scar as well as some old stretch marks (yes, I have those too… don’t all women?). The facial scar, approx. 8 yrs old, showed improvement after 9 weeks. The stretch marks, approx. 20 yrs old, are starting to show improvement after 4 months.

I never thought there could be a way to improve appearance of old scar tissue. I spoke with others who have used this product and they also received similar results. It’s not a “miracle” overnight treatment, but the company does give a money back guarantee. 1.76 ounce retails in price range of $25.00 - $32.00 and is available behind counter at your local retail pharmacy. However, you can contact the company direct at 888-925-8989 and receive it for $24.95 with free shipping.

Stretch marks occur from rapid weight gain or rapid growth where the skin didn’t have enough elasticity to stretch, therefore the small “tears” in the skin become scar tissue. You would be surprised to see how many models have stretch marks at the base of their spines from quick “growth” or on their bosoms from seemingly overnight “cup” size (especially the Latin models who seem to get their curves early). Most all women get stretch marks on upper thighs and butt cheeks.

Remember prevention is so much easier than repair and/or elimination. How? With the CRT Skin Tightening System and Premium Blended Alfalfa… daily brushing in the CRT pattern keeps skin healthy and the nutrients in alfalfa (richest botanical source of all minerals, vitamins, essential fatty acids and also a source of eight enzymes) maintains elasticity and collagen production.

Tip of the Week

In following up with last week’s tip on food, I want to emphasize why it is important to start each day with some fresh grapefruit. Primarily it is for enzymes and fat emulsifying. The whole fruit pectin, pulp, and fibrous content are important. Don’t alter it with any artificial sweeteners or sugar.

Grapefruit also helps the digestive system stay “regular”. When I travel in airplanes. I usually take peeled grapefruit sections in a Ziploc bag to eat on the plane (better for you than pretzels!) and pack an additional grapefruit for the next morning.

Grapefruit sections are also great for snacking during that tough time of 3-5 p.m. or when craving “sugar”. The tart taste will satisfy both sweet and sour taste buds (Biology 101) and fruit glucose hits the bloodstream quickly. I usually take 1 or 2 Premium Blended Alfalfa capsules during this time to get plant “protein” in my blood at the same time.

Another question I get often is “What cereals are safe for me to eat and not gain weight?” Well, in my opinion, here are the best (i.e.: taste, crunch, not loaded with sugars and preservatives):

1. SPELT FLAKES CEREAL by Arrowhead Mills is naturally sweetened with fruit juice and has a nutty taste. The spelt grain is great for people who are sensitive to wheat. It has a satisfying “crunch” and is great dry as well as with milk. I prefer it dry and usually carry a 1-cup portion in a zip lock bag for afternoon “munchies” or mid-morning snack if I had eggs for breakfast. Spelt Flakes are available at most large grocery stores or at health food stores. It is organically grown and processed. Arrowhead Mills is located in Hereford, Texas.

2. MAPLE RAISIN CRISP by Peace Cereal (Golden Temple) is the best wheat free granola I have ever tasted. It is light, crunchy and easy to digest. This is one of 5 other granola blends; all of them are good. Maple Raisin Crisp is the granola that O blood types won’t gain weight with (I’m an O). On my carb days I usually start the day with a bowl of this cereal and another cup in the afternoon. I usually consume it dry, but it is good with milk too. Maple Raisin Crisp is organically grown and processed. Golden Temple (Peace Cereal) is located in Eugene, Oregon. If you can’t find this cereal in your local health food store, you can call Special Tea Distributor at 1-800-964-4832 and they can ship it direct to you. They also have a full catalogue available.

Last of all, if you do drink milk or use it in your cereals try to get organic low fat milk free of growth hormones, antibiotics or pesticides! Wait till next week when I reveal the latest info on milk. Wow, it sure opened my eyes.

Until next week…
