My dad has a solid mass on his right kidney which is the size of a golf ball. Finding it was a matter of his prostate levels being off, so they did a biopsy/groin area CAT scan, went "huh", did another CAT scan with contrast, still couldn't tell what it was, so did an ultrasound. They have no idea whether it is benign or not - that will have to wait for it to be removed and looked at by pathology. He's going to be having pretty serious surgery in the next few weeks to remove the mass and probably a good 5% of his kidney. He's not good with uncertainty and is terrified of death, so is not in a good place right now.

I ask for prayers that his fears be soothed, and that this mass be simply another place in his body that his horrible psoriasis has caused plaque-ish buildup. Will keep you all posted on what happens. His name is Jay Whitcomb.

many thanks....

Definitely will keep you in our thoughts.
I have *heard* that these are extremely common as we age. My mother ended up passing away with one much larger and it had nothing to do with her death.
Just sayin'... Kidney masses are out there are rarely noticed unless something brings it our attention... Not that that will help him, but maybe you???
And I have never heard of these being in relation to psoriasis. Very interesting. ((Hugs))

He's got psoriatic arthritis very bad, so its not just his skin. He had his neck fused almost 20 years ago, and at that time the surgeon said all his tissues were kind of gelatanous and odd textured from the psoriasis. so i figure who knows. it is good to know that a kidney mass is not an uncommon thing.

Hi Joy,

I have prayed for both you and your father. I have asked the Lord to keep you both in love and healing energy and to comfort and guide you. I have asked that your father be healed wholly and completely.

If your father in interested in receiving healing through faith in Jesus Christ, there are many resources available to guide him. I'll recommend three for starters: the first five books of the New Testament, the health and healing section on the website for Kenneth Copeland Ministries [ http://www.kcm.org/real-help/health-and-healing ], and "His Healing Power," which is a compilation of four books by Lilian B. Yeomans, M.D.

Hugs and best wishes to you and your dad,
Vi

Hey Joy,
I sent a prayer off for you and your family.
You can live a long healthy life with only one kidney, so them taking 5% of one shouldn't affect him too greatly, after his body has had time to adjust.
