Anyone have one of these? If so, how do you like it? Does it live up to its claims?
TIA!

We used one for over a year. Our well water was pretty nasty and really coated the filters badly. I cleaned them regularly with a green scrubby pad. This eroded the filters to more of a light bulb shape. I have no idea how many gallons we put through but it was a family of 6. Sometimes there was something that looked suspiciously like mold on the outside of them. That was the only draw back. I understand that they now have some filters impregnated with silver to prevent mold build up. I wouldn't consider any filters without the silver unless your water is already treated with something that kills mold. I also have friends with a water filter that uses the same gravity feed technology but made in America called Aqua Rain.

Thank you! Something to consider--we have well water with HIGH iron in it! :p

We've had one for about 6 months now, and I LOVE it! We even used some of the water from it for a chemistry experiment to see if there were any metals left in it. There were none! I keep a gallon of cold water in the frig all the time. Whenever I take a gallon out of my Berkey I just add another gallon of tap water back in so it doesn't run out.

I've also heard of Aqua Rain. Some research I've done says the filtration is superior to Berkey, but it seems like the size of the unit is smaller, so that might not be good for a large family. A friend of mine has a Berkey and she likes it.
