View Full Version : Overwhelmed. Where on earth do I start?

I'm a totally sedentary homeschooling mom of 5 who also works full time outside the home (at a desk). I refuse to use lack of time as an excuse any longer as I am just plain fat. I want to be healthy, and get the emotional benefits of exercise because I have a little depression going on as well. I also want to be physically appealing to my husband again. He's a good man, hard working, and has never chided me about my weight, but I know inside that he'd be blessed if I was healthier (and slimmer).
I've looked at the website, read over the forums, but there are so many options and I'm also little low on the $$ side, so what is the least expensive route to take to begin this T-Tapp journey?
Thanks for your input!
Debbie

I would try the Basic Workout Plus. It will provide a good overview of form and function of each exercise and it is easy to manage if you are just starting out! (time-wise).

If you are low on money, go to the Super Closeout section of the store. They have BWO+ and SATI (Step Away The Inches) at a reduced rate.
The book is also very valuable and comes with a DVD in the back that has Organs In Place/Half Frogs which is work those ab muscles.
Of course, you can't go wrong with TWO (Total Work Out).

The MORE Rehab workout (https://store.t-tapp.com/products/T%252dTapp-MORE-Rehab-Program-DVD.html) is the one you need. I think BWO might be to much for you right now. If you buy the book FIT AND FABULOUS (https://store.t-tapp.com/products/Fit-and-Fabulous-in-15-Minutes-by-Teresa-Tapp%252dPaperback.html) you will get a 30% discount off of the MORE workout... (plus a free SATI DVD with the book)

Debbie,
If you can spring for MORE, it would give you several options. IT includes a 10 minutes sitting in a chair version, it has several MORE versions and SATI (step away the inches). It is 4 or 5 workouts in one. I am not sure when Deep Discount Tuesday is again but you could also look to see if their are any versions of MORE on sale. It is 69.99 but if you did like Michelle said and get the book first, then you use the coupon in the book and get 30% off the 69.99 for a total of
48.99. You can get the book here or at amazon.com. Good luck and I applaud your desire to get healthy and fitter!

I third the MORE suggestion!
I am a busy homeschooling mama, too (don't work outside the home though!), and over my 3 years, 80% of my workouts have been shorter ones, and half of those have been with MORE!
As Rhonda said, it gives you options. The Instructional in MORE is just excellent! And piglet has a wonderful thread where you can post your workouts as you do them and have some camaraderie where others are doing the same workouts!
And you could always use my "savings plan"--save your change! ;)
HUGS to you! You won't regret it!

Welcome---like you, my dh has never chided me for my weight gain. He has asked a couple of times of I would take steps to improve my health because he wants me around for us to continue to enjoy the children and the grandchildren. Since starting my journey last February, I have lost 3 sizes and between 15 and 20 pounds. I KNOW that I have lost over 30 inches, but it probably closer to 50 because I wasn't measuring before I started T-Tapping in June. DH is so THRILLED with the "new" me...and I still have quite a ways to go!!
I have also suffered from depression for my adult life. T-Tapp makes such a difference for me, in so many ways.
If you can do the book, calling the office and having them activate you 30% coupon and order MORE and receive the SATI DVD (receiving the DVD for Secrets to a Flat Stomach in the back of the book), that would be awesome!!!

I thought I could piece together a workout with bits and pieces found throughout the website, but I 1) never did it, and 2) once I started doing the BWO+ it is so much easier to follow along and learn the routine.
Joining a challenge helps, too.
I only know the BWO so it's the only thing I can recommend. The important thing is to get started.

I second the fit and fab book with the 30% off and the MORE workout.
I always looked at more but bought TWO and BWO and SATI and now I finally ended up buying MORE and I love it. I wish I had bought it sooner, worth the cash.

I started out with the book. I read and learned how to correctly do the moves then I bought BWO+, TWO and SATI. I would suggest you buy the book and BWO+. If you are out of shape like I was, this is a great starter without you feeling overwhelmed. I was huffing and puffing during the BWO+ for a week before I could work though the whole thing without stopping. I could not imagine myself with a 55 min workout. I have read a lot of people lost tons of inches with this 15 min workout doing it 3 times a week!
SATI and BWO+ are my favorites because they don't take up much time. You can apply SATI while walking around the house or property or really anywhere.
Just to let you know, BWO+ is part of TWO.

I HIGHLY recommend MORE.
You could find a used copy of Fit & Fabulous that still has the DVD in it. I did.
Then you can use the coupon if you call the office and get MORE.
You will be able to use MORE for a lonnnnngggg time! It has several WO's in it and when you focus on form, you will continue to get results with it.
And yes, please do come and join in on the MORE thread, too! :clappinghands:

If you are truly not ready to spend the money, see if your library has the book, just to get you started, and take a look at the "Try Before You Buy" moves on the website here. Especially hoedowns - you can work on them for an eternity and still keep improving! Then when you are able to get a DVD and/or copy of the book to own (because it's a great reference and super motivating to read the testimonials), you will have already been experiencing some of the benefits. I never even thought to look online first (this dates me, doesn't it!) but went first to the library, when I heard about T-Tapp. I renewed the book a couple of times before it occurred to me that I could get it for myself! By then I had learned the Primary Back Stretch from the book and was doing hoe downs a few times a day, and very excited about it all.
When I finally sprang for the book (and got my 30% discount for a DVD - my choice was Basic Workout Plus not knowing anything about More), I was beginning to feel like part of the "club", and I found this forum. Now I'm hooked, have learned tons, and have certainly improved my health and looks for less money than I could ever have imagined. And I feel great. Don't be afraid to take the plunge, but don't let money issues hold you back, either. You can still get started and feel results. There are plenty of people here on the forum who have received help and encouragement, and they want to encourage you in turn. Good luck!
Oh, and T-Tapp is great for busy homeschoolers! You don't have to go to a gym or get a bunch of presentable special clothes to do it, or get a babysitter, etc. And your kids can also learn it!
