I have heard lots of great things about T Tapp and a friend lent me Teresa's seminar talk to watch. I have about 50 to 60 pounds to lose and I am quite mobile, but my husband needs to lose at least 100 lbs and has a terrible back.

I just ordered the T Tapp MORE set. I am hoping that I will be able to benefit from it as well as my husband.

I also want to know how necessary the skin brushing thing is? I am all for getting it and trying it out, but money is an issue and my husband is skeptical about it.

Thanks!

Welcome!

It's absolutely one of the best things you can do for yourselves!

Click on the links in my signature to see what T-Tapp has done for me and my back.

I love the skin brushing and recommend it although you will still get results without it.

Did you know that there is a Dec. discount of 25% until Dec. 20? That will definitely make it more cost effective! The code is TT0925

Good luck!

Welcome to T-Tapp!
T-Tapp MORE is a great place to start for both of you.
Your husband should start with Chair and gradually work up to the other workouts.
OIP(Organs in Place)is also demonstrated in the video and it is not just for women. Men can benefit from it too.
Brushing is very beneficial for skin toning as you lose weight. I highly recommend it for both you and your husband. It is good for your immune system as well.
Just do your best,

Welcome to T-Tapp! MORE is a GREAT workout!

Skin brushing is wonderful, and it not only tightens skin and removes cellulite, but it also helps move lymph and remove toxins!

I am totally amazed by how my skin is tightening up--especially my tummy area! I've lost over 10 inches off my abs and have no hanging skin! It will also make your skin nice and soft! ;)

Just as an aside, I've lost 142 inches but only 21 pounds. So don't let the scales direct you. Go by how you feel, how clothing fits and measuring.

These forums are very encouraging and helpful!

Best wishes on your T-Tapp journey!

Hi Nuggan,

Welcome to T-Tapp! I agree, MORE is the workout of choice for both you and your husband, as is dry skin brushing.

Did You Know?

The skin is the largest most important eliminative organ in the body and is responsible for one quarter of the body’s detoxification each day?
The skin eliminates over one pound of waste acids each day in the average adult, most of it through the sweat glands?
That the skin is known also as our third kidney?
That the skin receives one third of all the blood circulated in the body?
That the skin is the last to receive nutrients in the body, yet the first to show signs of imbalance or deficiency?

Detoxification is performed by a number of organs, glands, and transportation systems, including the skin, digestive system, kidneys, liver, lungs, lymphatic system, and mucous membranes. Dry skin brushing deals with detoxification of the skin.

Dry brushing is a way to stimulate all the above organs of detoxification because it provides a gentle internal massage.

Dry brushing is promoted as a preventative for dry skin and a way to exfoliate the skin, thus stimulating skin renewal that is super soft to the touch, but there are many other benefits as well:

Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing Explained:

1.Removes cellulite
2.Cleanses the lymphatic system
3.Removes dead skin layers
4.Strengthens the immune system
5.Stimulates the hormone and oil-producing glands
6.Tightens the skin preventing premature aging
7.Tones the muscles
8.Stimulates circulation
9.Improves the function of the nervous system
10.Helps digestion

1.Dry brushing removes cellulite- Cellulite is the expression used to describe pockets of fat which are trapped and cause dimpling in the skin. This dimpling is irregular and patchy and has been identified with orange peel. These deposits most commonly occur on the thighs and hips of women. Cellulite can affect men and women of any body weight or size.
2. Your best bets for getting rid of cellulite are dry skin brushing, connective tissue massage, eating foods that feed the skin, an alkaline diet program and a consistent exercise routine. These techniques will break down the unwelcome toxic body deposits and send them scurrying out your body through the elimination systems. And your health will be SO much better for it!
3.Dry brushing cleans the lymphatic system. Lymph is a clear to yellowish watery fluid which is found throughout the body. It circulates through body tissues picking up fats, bacteria, and other unwanted materials, filtering these substances out through the lymphatic system. All detoxification occurs first and foremost through the lymph. Our bodies contain far more lymph than blood, so you can see how important this might be.
4.Dry skin brushing exfoliates the skin. Dry skin brushing helps shed dead skin cells, which can help improve skin texture and cell renewal. Dry skin is a sign of detoxification. Therefore it’s good to keep the process going by removing the dead skin daily. If this does not occur, a “log jam” can happen where the person ends up with eczema, psoriasis, and dandruff.
5.Dry skin brushing strengthens the immune system. Dry skin brushing can reduce the duration of an infection and accelerate the clearing of toxins. It helps support the immune system.
6.Dry skin brushing stimulates the hormone and oil glands, thus helping all of the body systems perform at peak efficiency. The skin is your body's largest organ. When improperly maintained, the elimination duties of the skin are forced upon the kidneys. Chemical analysis of sweat shows that it has almost the same constituents as urine. If the skin becomes inactive, its pores choke with millions of dead cells, uric acid and other impurities which will remain in the body putting extra stress on the liver and kidneys. Bathe daily and do a dry skin brushing before the bath/shower to help stimulate blood flow to the surface so that toxins can more easily escape.
7.Dry skin brushing tightens the skin - Our bodies make a new top layer of skin every 24 hours – dry skin brushing removes the old top layer, allowing the clean new layer to come to the surface, resulting in softer, smoother, tighter skin.
8.Dry skin brushing stimulates your circulation. Our skin breathes! And yet, in most people, this vital route of detoxification is operating far below its capacity, because it is clogged with dead skin cells and the un-removed waste excreted through perspiration. Dry skin brushing increases circulation to skin, encouraging your body’s discharge of metabolic wastes. Increased blood flow begins entering the areas brushed and you will experience an increase in electromagnetic energy that permits you to feel energized and invigorated. By activating the circulation you can also prevent varicose veins.
9.Helps digestion -- Dry skin brushing helps your skin to absorb nutrients by eliminating clogged pores. Healthy, breathing skin contributes to overall body health. When you brush, the pores of your skin open allowing your skin to absorb nutrients and eliminate toxins.

What You Need To Do Dry Brushing:

To dry brush, use a soft natural fiber brush as found in the T-Tapp store https://store.t-tapp.com/products/CRT-Skin-Tightening-Body-Brush.html or at a bath and Body Store near you.

Learn the Secret to Success with the CRT DVD (https://store.t-tapp.com/products/CRT-Brushing-Sequence-DVD-and-Body-Brush-Combo.html) which teaches Teresa Tapp's special brushing sequence step by step with detailed instruction.
CRT Brushing Sequence DVD now includes the following exercises to pump the lymphatic system, eliminate toxins and target cellulite areas:

Awesome Legs
Jog Rocks
Hoe Downs
Diva Derriere

Most nylon and synthetic fiber brushes are too sharp and may damage skin.

Tips and Tricks for Dry Brushing:

Always dry brush your dry and naked body before you shower or bathe because you will want to wash off the impurities from the skin as a result from the brushing action.

It is best to dry skin brush in the morning when you body is going through a natural detox, but can be done at any time during the day, consistency is key. If you are feeling ill, increasing the treatments to twice a day is good. You can also dry brush areas of cellulite five to 10 minutes twice a day to achieve cellulite dissolving but the technique needs to be done consistently for a minimum of five months.

Note: Stroking away from your heart puts extra pressure on the valves within the veins and lymph vessels and can cause ruptured vessels and varicose veins.

Use light pressure in areas where the skin is thin and harder pressure on places like the soles of the feet.
Avoid sensitive areas and anywhere the skin is broken such as areas of skin rash, wounds, cuts, and infections. Also, never brush an area affected by poison oak or poison ivy.
Clean your skin brush using soap and water once a week. After rinsing, dry your skin brush in an open, sunny spot to prevent mildew.
Any well designed program will take about 30 days to see and experience the changes. Please be patient and keep up the program! For a thorough lymphatic cleansing, perform skin brushing daily for a minimum of three months.

Wow Michelle - that was FANTASTIC!!!!!

Just wanted to add my welcome Nuggan! My dh (dear husband) started MORE with me this morning and really really liked it! He has a significant belly, (they asked him to be Santa at the church Christmas party this year!) back and knee issues and plantar fasciatis. I'm looking forward to all the improvements he's going to experience! Enjoy the journey with your darling!

And DEFINITELY add dry brushing! I don't consider my morning complete without it. It feels so good (and gets all those itchy spots after working out!)

Nuggan,

If you just ordered MORE did you order the one that is $99.00 because it comes with the brushing kit. If you call the office back and ask them if you can change to that one, use the 25% discount it would make that $99 more like $74 which isn't too much more than the $69.00 you already paid for MORE. Just a thought.

WELCOME too. http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/1.gif

Ok, my next question is this:

My plan is to do the 14 day boot camp of the workout where you can stand in the mornings when I get up and then do the sit down one with my DH in the evening.

Is that going to be overdoing it? I have no physical limitations so I am thinking that the sit down one will not be enough for me but will really challenge DH.

Also, with this package I am getting core. From what I read it is kid-oriented. Where do I fit THIS in? Maybe when my husband loses some weight and gains back some mobility he will be able to do this as a phys-ed package with the kids (we homeschool). But for now I'm thinking to do this on the weekends with my kids after I do my boot camp.

I really want to kick this in high gear to start getting some results to keep me motivated, but I don't want to burn out either.

What do you all do?

BlessedMama
12-04-2009, 11:51 AM
Core is chaptered so you can do individual moves throughout the day. I have my dc do 3 of the moves a day, 3 days a week. But you can mix it up any way you like!

There is an instructional for each move--maybe 5 minutes?--then another straight through of that move--2-3 minutes.

The walking one is the only one with no instructional and it's a bit longer.

You'll find it very easy to incorporate once you see it!

I would do the Instructional for your bootcamp, or at least 4 days of it. Instructionals help establish neurokinetic connections and are important!

HTH!

Here is a great way to use TappCore in your home school. (I home school also!)

http://www.t-tapp.com/tappcore/fitness/howtouse/index.html

Also, I know you just ordered, but wanted to add a plug for TappCore 2.

https://store.t-tapp.com/products/TappCore-2-Sunray-Sit-Down-DVD.html

It is a sit down workout and your husband would be able to do it with the kids.

It runs straight through like any of the other workouts.

Teresa has a group of kids behind her while she is working out. It is a great DVD.

My husband does it regularly to help with his neck, shoulder, and back issues from working at a computer all day.

Thank you for the responses! I guess my main question is when I do the boot camp, do I do the MORE one for two weeks? Or should I do the broom walking? or the step away? Or can I do all three?

My thought was in the mornings when I get up to do the MORE one with instruction for about 4 days and then stick with the MORE for two weeks. THEN mix up the MORE with the walking ones.

In the evening do the sit down program with DH.

For a while I'll play around with the core one with the kids. That sit down core one might be great too!

(I guess I can probably give away my treadmill, can't I ? :D)

Isn't it great when those packages come?!

I think doing the Instructional for 4 days is great--that is actually all I did for an actual bootcamp.

MORE plus the three shorter workouts is considered a "full workout", so if you can handle that, you could continue with that. If for whatever reasons (health, stamina, etc.) MORE without the extras is what you handle, you can use that.

I have used the three shorter workouts for off day workouts, TOM when I don't feel up to standing (Chair is wonderful!), the short step away for a little lymphatic pumping....I just love the options MORE has!

If you decide to do the MORE plus 3 after your bootcamp, you would want to do them every other day if you do them all together. MORE by itself (the 20 minute workout) is safe to do daily. Do take one day a week off except if you're in a bookcamp.

I hope that all makes sense! I feel like I kind of rambled through! But I LOVE MORE! It is one of my absolute favorite workouts! I feel the instructional in MORE is just tops! You will LOVE it!

HUGS!

Nuggan

Thanks BlessedMama!

Ok...just to be clear...

I can do the MORE instructional plus SATI and Broom and chair and that is a full workout?

What about if I do MORE instructional plus SATI and Broom in the mornings and then do Chair with DH in the evenings? Can I break it up that way and still get the same results?

DH will be challenged with the chair routine. He has serious back issues and plus I think we're looking at gall bladder removal in his near future. He wants me to do it with him and I do too but I read in the booklet about overtraining so I don't want to shoot myself in the foot right out of the gate.

Once I do a 14 day boot camp I plan on doing full workouts M, W, F and then SATI or Broom or Chair or some of the CORE on T, Th and Sat with Sundays off.

Does that sound right?

BlessedMama
12-08-2009, 10:42 PM
The MORE straight through workout plus the 3 is a full workout. The Instructional by itself is a full one, I believe! (I'm not a trainer, but that's my understanding!)

You could still do Chair with dh later in the day. Breaking it up is okay, as long as you get it in the same day (if you're thinking for a full workout after you finish doing the Instructional for 4 days).

I don't think you'd be overdoing it to add Chair later in the day if you did Instructional earlier by yourself.

Just have your dh do what he can. That's the beauty of T-Tapp--you start where you are!

HTH!

editing to add: your schedule after bootcamp sounds fine! Just listen to your body!

Nuggan
12-08-2009, 10:52 PM
Ok, yes, the booklet just mentioned the MORE by itself for bootcamp. In fact, in the booklet it mentions doing the instructional for as long as it takes and THEN bootcamp is the MORE workout (without instructions) so, if I do the instructional for 4 days then does that make my bootcamp 18 days?

I know weight doesn't enter into it, but I am 5'7" and 214 lbs (cringe) and a size 16 I would like to lose 4 sizes It says:

" do the MORE workout 14 days in a row then every other day for 8 weeks, you may continue with every other day until desired results are achieved. Once desired results are achieved it is only necessary to do MORE workout twice a week to maintain results"

Now, me, I will probably want to workout at least 5 days a week, 3 full, 2 off because if I don't I am going to slllliddde back into a slump.

I think doing instructional 4 days should be sufficient for me unless I've got bad form.

Thank you so much for you help!

monica213
12-08-2009, 10:59 PM
Take your focus off of bootcamp right now, and put all of your energy into the instructionals, and learning them well! You WILL have GREAT results with them. Once you can complete them AND hold your muscles tight while in linear alignment and using full extension, THEN do a bootcamp. Trust me on this

http://bestsmileys.com/wink/2.gif

BlessedMama
12-08-2009, 11:01 PM
Yeah, I know it can get confusing!

Again, I'm not a trainer, but from my experience, I would do 4 days of the Instructional. And quite frankly, that might be just fine, take two days off, then start your schedule of MWF MORE plus the 3 short workouts, T/Th one of the shorter ones or off. Or however you schedule it!

But if you want to do a longer bootcamp of 14 days, do the 4 days Instructional, and the other 10 just MORE straight through. Doing Chair later with your dh is fine. Take a few days off then do your schedule of 3 full 2 shorter workouts.

You don't want to go over 14 days, however you structure the workouts, for a bootcamp.

You CAN lose the sizes--weight doesn't matter! (I'm 5' 4 1/2", 153 pounds and a size 10! You can see by my signature line that weight doesn't matter!) It's about form as best you can (that progresses), muscle activation and consistency. Sometimes we have health/hormonal issues that slow outside progress down, but you want a healthy body more than a smaller one, anyway!

Does that all make sense?! (I really should go to bed--I got too long of a nap earlier! LOL!)

Just in case it's hard to wrap your brain around "Weight Doesn't Matter", I compiled a post awhile back that includes several threads to illustrate the point!

http://forum.t-tapp.com/showthread.php?t=63950

HTH!

(editing to add--LISTEN TO MICHELLE! I did only a 4 day "instructional bootcamp" last January, took 2 days off, and that was enough! I have to say I've had greater success with most of my shorter bootcamps than the longer ones! ;) )

Nuggan

Yes, I think I've got it. Thank you for all your help.

I just measured myself so I'm set to start. I should go to bed too, I have to get up earlier to TTapp! :D

I will add the OIP though, the concept is fascinating and I'm glad that the instructional for that was on the DVD. I was having trouble visualizing it on the website.

Thanks again!

Nuggan

Ok! WOOT!

I didn't get to bed until about 12:45 AM and DH was up sick (again, the gall bladder) so I didn't sleep well.

BUT I dragged myself out of bed and managed to get the instructional loaded up. It took a little longer than I expected but I did it and the brushing and did all the rest of my morning routine and was only 5 minutes late for work.

Since my DVD player died, I took my laptop into my bathroom and did it in there so I couldn't be distracted by the children. The bonus with that was the mirrors which helped with my form.

That workout kicked butt! Who knew! I feel fantastic and like I've lost inches already (I know it's impossible, but still...)

I had more problem keeping my butt tucked. I kept thinking it was and then when I checked I wasn't. But I am sure that it was still effective because I felt it and I still feel it 3 hours later.

LOVE IT!

Nuggan
12-16-2009, 03:17 PM
Well due to sheer exhaustion I missed day 4, but have picked up and have done 4 days of the more workout consecutively which make 7/8 days. I measured myself last night and I have lost 3.25 inches all over. I gained a bit in some areas - a little in the abdomen, but my pooch is not hanging down as much anymore - it is lifted which I take as a good sign even if it increased the measurement in that area. My arms and lower thighs gained 1/2" each - but again, I'm guessing this is a good sign and is muscle mass. My upper thighs shrank a bit and so did my waist.

I am hoping that even if it is a mere 3.25" this shows I am doing it properly.

Rhonda...you're SO good!!!!! Great advice!

Michelle...I learn something new from you every day! Thank you!

*Sigh* Just missed another day due to getting up late. I can't do it now. Do I need to re-boot the boot camp? I did 3 days then missed. Then I did 4 days and missed. How many times do I need to restart the 14 day boot camp? It's difficult sometimes.

I really want to get this right. I see the benefits already.

Help!

monica213
12-17-2009, 08:03 PM
If you did 4 days... then you did your bootcamp, just go on to EOD and consider it a job well done. BC should not be repeated within a 4 - 6 week time frame and only if you have plateaued and are not losing inches.

BlessedMama
12-17-2009, 09:56 PM
Yes, what Michelle said! Consistency is the main key!

HUGS! And congratulations! ANY bootcamp is a BIG accomplishment!

Nuggan
12-17-2009, 11:17 PM
Thank you both so much for your encouragement. I am trying hard and don't want to berate myself in the process. EOD means full work out one day and some moves the next, right?

just7
12-18-2009, 06:21 AM
Yes, you have it right. You could also do short w/os 4-5 days a week and maybe 1 full one. Don't set yourself up to fail...set yourself up to succeed! Do what YOU can do. There is no magic formula you have to follow. As Trisch said, consistency is the key. If you do 15 minutes every other day and you feel great while you are doing it, then you are golden! If you can do 15 minutes EVERY day.... well you get the idea. Even doing a full workout one day, and then a day off and then a 15 minute workout. The key, I think, is to do what you are excited about doing. You have less chances of burning out.

carist
12-18-2009, 07:52 AM
To clarify, EOD can mean that you work out one day and do nothing the next. You don't have to do anything at all on your off day, though many do.

monica213
12-18-2009, 08:07 AM
Technically (if doing a long workout) EOD is doing a LONG workout every other day, and most do a short workout (HTF, SATI, BWO, MORE) on off days <with 1 day off a week to rest>

If You have injuries, health issues or low fitness level then EOD is doing a workout of choice (MORE, SATI, BWO) EOD and resting or doing PBS and a challenge move (Eg OIP/HF) on off days if you wish.
