I have been giving my 8 yr old gfs extract for a fungal skin infection. I sent my husband up to the hfs to get another bottle when we ran out. The lady there warned him to make sure she doesn't take it long term. He didn't ask any questions. So now, I am wondering what she meant by long term and what can happen if she takes too many? I am not aware of any side effects. Is there something about GFS extract that I don't know?

Is she using it internally or externally?
It's very acidic and if not properly diluted can burn the stomach, esophagus... Externally, I'm guessing it could burn the skin, too.
I believe as long as you are not exceeding what your brand's label says, I'm sure you'll be fine. If it isn't clearing it up, then maybe you want to try something different.

It is tablets, so it is internally. Since it's tablets, do I still need to worry about the acidity? Also, what about throwing her ph out of balance? I hadn't thought about that....

It's a strong acid but it actually alkalizes the body. Like lemons do. Not sure about the need to dilute tablets, we always use the drops. If they make it in tablet form, I'm sure you're safe. I'm guessing they recommend taking with water? Maybe that's enough. Good questions though.

It's interesting so see this post on Grapefruit seed extract. I read it with interest. For some reason---don't know why, other than I'm dealing with some "issues"---I took one capsule of grapefruit seed extract the other night before bed. All day yesterday, my gums felt sore and were stinging. They looked a little swollen. I couldn't imagine it being a reaction to the GSE, but I just don't know.

That's strange Jennifer, because GSE is known to heal gums.... And what's with all the capsules/tablets??? I only knew of the drops and my family is *not* a follower, LOL!

True, but, sometimes healing looks weird - i.e., the toxins have to get cleaned out first.

I got mine from Diannecraft.org. I saw her at a conference and she talked about how a "leaky gut" can form and be an issue and how it affects children.
I'm actually wondering if my body is pushing out toxins. We took care of my father-in-law for 5 months from the end of 2006 to 2007 before he passed away here in our home. He had mersa in the lungs. None of us had any sign of it. I think because we use Melaluca products (which is the highest grade tea tree oil). So I was cleaning his rooms with the institutional strength cleaner. Our shampoo, soap, and toothpaste has melaluca in it.
But both my dh and I have been having cellulitis issues lately. We get a small cut or ingrown hair and it doesn't heal and then starts to swell, etc. We are using our meleuca oil and mela-gel to help promote healing. With doing T-Tapp, I just wonder if our bodies are working on some inner healing that we aren't aware of.
My gums are still feeling sore and tingly today....... :thinkingabout:

Actually, I would get the drops and apply it topically. I had an area this summer on my arm that was a strange dry patch. I'd pick the skin off and there it was AGAIN and AGAIN! This cycle went on for a month or so. I was slow to catch on that something is up....lol! :o I started putting a drop of GSE on it once or twice a day and in a week it was gone. :D

Did you use it straight, Wendy??

Lori - Yes, straight up. The spot was on the top of my forearm and the GSE didn't bother it a bit. I'd definately test first!
Just as an FYI - Borax (the laundry booster) is a natural anti-fungal. It's found in the laundry isle at Walmart in a green box. You could try making a paste, put it on the area and cover with a bandage.

Really??? Who knew??
Well, for now, I've got the liquid GSE and since taking it internally didn't help, I'll try in *neat* on the spot. Thanks, Wendy! And thanks natrfrk, for bringing this topic up!:hello2:

Hi WendyD! I just ordered from iherb using your code and now I have my own! I had to laugh when I saw this thread because GFSE was one of the things I ordered. I had recently had problems with a bladder infection (came out of the blue after going to the dr., having a not-so-annual check-up (I was 5 years late!) and got a tetnus shot...makes me wonder about that shot!) that came back after having the usual antibiotics. I was controling it with natural apple cider vinegar but it wasnt staying away. My DGD came down with another cold so I got the Imunne Boost sold by Theresa and started taking it. It has GFSE in it...and my bladder infection suddenly went away! Yea! So I am getting some to be prepared if it comes back and to use to alkalize my body. I also just had a breast biopsy that showed a total of 13 cancer cells so I got Cats Claw to deal with that...and saved $5 and free shipping! ;)

Lori - if you think about it, it won't have to go all through your body to find the "spot". Let us know if it clears it up. I had to keep hitting mine for a good week or so and it was gone. It's been a couple months and it's not back. Yeah!
Thanks Nancy! GSE has so many uses. I confess that I forget I have it and then remember 1/2 way into the game.

[QUOTE=just7;697590]I got mine from Diannecraft.org. I saw her at a conference and she talked about how a "leaky gut" can form and be an issue and how it affects children.
Dianne is also where I heard about gfse. I got her cd's and was listening to one about nutrition and behavior, and odd symptoms. She mentioned patches on the arm near the elbow that resemble ring worm and how her recommendations for the gut symptoms often clear that up too, so that's what I'm trying to do for DD. Hers flares up everytime she eats popcorn, sometimes any kind of corn, and sometimes with peanut butter. Anyway, that's why I started her on it.
