Read/unread not working

A couple of days ago I noticed that I was reading threads but they were still showing up as unread - bold titles, the icon next to the forum showing unread threads, the message "next unread" at the top still showing.

I did going into User CP (when I read that thread about finding the smilies), but I don't remember changing anything, and can't now see anything that might have caused the change.

It doesn't happen on every thread, just a few. Just enough to drive me nuts! :laughing: I'm a little OCD about forums and tend to read everything when I sit down to read.

Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Betsy, there have been spammers hanging around. When they post on threads, it shows up as unread, but the spam part has been removed so their is nothing new to actually read. Could that be it?? You can tell, something was removed, because their forum name still shows up as the last to post on the thread but when you click on the arrow to go to the last post, it takes you to the first post. Maybe that's it??

I don't think that was it. For one thing, I'm up so early in the morning the spam messages are still there! :laughing:

I'm wondering if it has something to do with my computer. I have a Mac at home. At work, when I do have time to read a bit, I don't have the problem.

I'm seeing it less, I think. Just started reading tonight and so far, so good.

I just went through the whole forum (except the Mommy part - I'm 58, lol) and didn't have the problem. So whatever it was, it's gone now.

Just one of those things to wonder about when you wake up at 2 AM, I guess. :thinkingabout:
