I'm looking for some jeans that really fit but since I'm a short torso I have a hard time finding them. I want jeans that makes my butt look great. I have found only one pair that does that.
It has a lot of detail on the back of the jeans. If I go to the regular ladies dept. I can squeeze into a 16 just barely over my fat stomach! But my butt looks good in them. If I go to Lane Bryant the waist fits good but I then get baggy hips and baggy in the butt. Any brands that are made for short torsos : big stomach, skinny legs, hips and butt??

I've had excellent luck with Baby Phat jeans (I found mine at Macy's). Their jeans fit short-torsoed women well (I'm a combo leaning strongly towards ST/LL). Baby Phat's jeans are stretchy and do a good job pulling in the tummy and hugging hips and long, slender legs. They come in 16's and can be found in the "larger" women area, since they go to much larger sizes. They can also be found in the teen department, but they tend to sit much lower on the hips than I like. What I really like about Baby Phat jeans is that they make mature-looking figures (my hourglass figure would certainly qualify) look more youthful. They're jeans that give us a flattering fit.

Jill,
I'm a tall short torso and wear the Levi Strauss jeans from Wal Mart. They're a little tight from the holidays, but seem to work well on my short torso frame. They come in a variety of denim colors, lengths and best of all, they're around $20.

As another ST, I love Levi's! I tend to wear a lot of different brands but the overall commonality is that they are on the lower side, I think they all fit a ST, so much better than the olden days of wearing jeans *at* the waist. Can you say *breathe*???

old navy sweetheart and diva fits are perfect for me. short torsos, in my opinion, look better in jeans that aren't to high waisted or your pooch bulges under the waist and you butt looks four feet long! if you have a little tummy (like most of us) a mid rise is best. it cuts the pooch rather than going above it or below it and it makes butts look lifted. the sweetheart cut is a mid-rise and the diva is a lowrise. i am SO SHORT-WAISTED that the lowrise looks best on me or it looks like my pants are up to my boobs! picture steve erkel :D. they are >$30.

Old Navy Diva's were on sale last week for $25, not sure about this week. I got the tight straight leg ones, great for tucking into the snow boots!

Some Levi's work well for me, but I am currently in love with Gloria Vanderbilt. I agree with others, though, go for mid to low rise styles. You'll never go back!

Levi's make my butt look flatter than it is! Does that happen to anyone else?

Yeah, Levi's make my butt look flat, too--actually, I look like a boy when I wear them. Lee's jeans can make my butt look a little better, but I've found that jeans made specifically for women fit my physique better. And I agree that having them hit lower below the waist is best, but, at least for me, when they're too low on the hips, they make my waist look too high. Oh, well...if I were just thin again, anything would look good (LOL!).

I'm combo/short... but I LOVE santana jeans from costco. I know they've had 36" waists, but I don't know about 38s or just what kind of 16 you are... The only thing to be aware of is that they shrink in length. My 32 inseams always turns into 30 1/2 which is waaaay too short.

I have had good luck with some of the pants at Christopher Banks clothing store. Also, I have found that when I get pants with a flap on the pocket, my butt doesn't look quite as flat. I don't have much of a waistline, so sometimes pants in the juniors section (at Fashion Bug) fit well. However, some of them really flatten out my butt. I really have to try alot of them on. And, it is still hard to find a good pair. :)

My DH thinks I look nice in Gloria Vanderbilt and Tommy Hilfiger Boyfriend jeans. They seem to fit the best all over. I am a very short torso & nearyl 5'8".
