T-Tapp has worked to remove some inches and I will continue to Tapp. But I really want to remove some pounds. [:I]
I have dieted my way up to this weight. Give me a food and I can tell you how many calories it contains. I know better than to go on another diet. [B)]
However, a couple of co-workers recently lost quite a bit of weight on Michael Thurmond’s Body Makeover. So, for a moment I thought, maybe I’ll give it a try. But first, I came to the forums (love having this information, thanks, Teresa) and read about Thurmond. I was “scared straight”. Reminded me of why I don’t ever want to be “on a diet” again. [xx(]
Started thinking about what type of eating plan might dovetail into my life. Mastering Leptin, GM/MM, Blood Type Diet and Water Cure all make good sense to me. ML was easy for me to do, not sure why I got away from it. GM/MM – I treated it like a diet and was ready for a donut on MM days. Which cracked me up, because normally I don’t even have donuts in the house. I have reduced dairy and wheat on the BTD, which has been a good thing. I have been doing Water Cure and am up to 60 oz. a day.
In the past, several times I’ve lost 20 # or so on Weight Watchers, lifetime member; Diet Divas, low carb, low cal; or by being more active. My problem now are too many carbs in the form of pasta and sweets and my goal is more like 40-50 #. Also, had foot surgery last month, and got the go ahead today to start being more active.
Thinking I should customize a plan using what I know works for me food wise and time wise. I certainly don't want to spend all my time thinking about food, shopping for food, etc.
That is my job this weekend, to sit down and customize a 6-week plan. For example, the first week, no sweets on Mon, Wed, Fri. and then continuing that into the rest of the weeks. Maybe increasing the no sweet days in a subsequent week. The second week, working on no 4:00 snack. I don’t want to be too easy on myself nor make it too drastic of a change.
Anyone else want to join me in a 6-week challenge starting July 9th? Customizing our own eating plan and sharing our progress? [8D]

I would really love to try something new. I have done WW in the past and it worked really good for me but I tried it a while back and I couldn't get any weight to budge:(:( Fuco Thin has helped me lose 8 pounds but I've been eating horribly and I know I could be losing more if I watched what I ate.
Let me know what you are thinking.....

Hello foxbay and schoonma,
I started a few days ago but would love to check in for support!
Foxbay one thing that helps me is to eat my sweets with more natural, unprocessed sugars like Sucanet, Agave Nectar, Maple Syrup, etc. Also, one thing that I learned from THM (Total Health Makeover) is that a fresh date will really help me when I need to have something sweet too. I think the saying is that "anyone can eat a pound of chocolate but no one can eat a pound of dates". They really do taste like candy to me too now.
Refined sugar derails me faster than anything on this planet! Once it's in my system, I struggle with my food choices for the next meal and day or two and then it can send me right into the ditch! My new goal is to not let this happen and really behave with sugar through the end of the year.
I am an all or nothing person and I am hoping with the combination of eating healthier and t-tapping that I can have good meals and bad meals live in harmony with eachother.
Please count me in!
Sandy

Hey Schoonma and Roadie,
What I was thinking - Diet wise, I do good things for myself throughout the day. A healthy smoothie for breakfast, drink water, no morning snack. :)
And not so healthy things, something sweet after lunch, an unhealthy snack about 4:30, a glass of wine as I'm cooking dinner, and sometimes dinner includes having seconds. Portion control is a problem. Sometimes I take supplements and sometimes I don't. [V]
I thought that each week I'd try and tackle one habit I'd like to change. Like not having seconds 4 days that week or taking supplements 5 days that week or only having something sweet Tue, Thur, and Sun.
Something along those lines. I thought others might have the same issues I have and perhaps we could work on it the same week. Or if our issues are prioritized differently, hold each other accountable to our weekly goal.
I want to do something similar to Habit Formers - for just this week, do T-Tapp (or in this case, insert your dietary issue) 3 times.
But I don't want to go to "all or nothing" land and say I'll never do such and such again as long as I live! :(
Then work on week 2 goal, while continuing doing week 1 goal.
What do you guys think? What would help you?

Hi ladies!!!
I'm in.... I have been doing very well for probably the last month and a half--maybe not eating all the right foods, but controlling portions and I've managed to lose about nine pounds and over nine inches in that span of time. And, yes, also on the FucoThin.
For me, trying to get in whole foods seems next to impossible just from the food prep angle. I have been existing on Slim-Fast in the morning, Lean Cuisine in the afternoon/evening, and maybe a small portion of what the rest of the family has in the evening--with some snacks interspersed. I hate all the processed stuff, but it seems to be working for right now, and it's easy enough to do with three boys running around.
So I'm here! Will keep my eye on this thread!

I have ordered Fuco-thin, I've been reading about it for some time. I am also going to buy some dates, good idea, Roadie.
Do you think we should have a new thread each week or just stick with this one?
I'm trying to decide what habit I would like to start to change first. Perhaps by Sunday evening, we could declare what our first weeks goal will be.

Hi All,
I'd love to join. I haven't budged the last 8 baby pounds.
My goal would to not eat any junk food, add more veggies and eat a good lunch. Lunch is always my faltering meal. If I got rid of the sugar alone, I'd be in a different place. We've been celebrating too many birthdays at this house.
Jen - Way to go girl!!! Good for you.
Foxbay - as for portion control, try using a small salad plate for dinner. It helped me cut down. Another odd tip, when you go out to eat, only eat half of the meal and save the other half for lunch the next day. When you eat out, you usually eat at least double the calories than what you need. This way you can eat what you want and enjoy it twice.

I ran across a great quote the other day by John C. Maxwell -
"You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine".
Hey Wendy, good tips for portion control. I'm still debating on which habit to alter the first week; portions, sweets, snacking... so many to choose from. [:0]:D[^][xx(]

Great, our support group is growing!
I'm going to stick to 3 litres of H20 a day and my THM eating plan.
Portion control is a big one for me too. When I walk by the chip selection at the HFS, they all start shaking because they know if I pick them, they are a gonner immediately! Hee hee.
Foxbay, I like that quote!
I think a weekly thread would work out good. That's my vote.

Count me in too! As soon as my CS check gets here, I'm going to pick up the "Sneaky Chef" book (in another post here) and am going to start working on myself and my family. And if it ever cools down enough, I'm going to start making our own bread and healthy stuff.
I have my 20th class reunion in a month, and I need to lose a few pounds at least! Or at least lose my gut. I say that I would be happy to shrink my belly, but in all probability, once that happens, I would probably find another "flaw" that needs fixing!
I used to do OIP/HF all the time, and I did notice a slight shrinking of the belly area, but I stopped doing it. I did try it again a while later, and it made me sick to my stomach (probably too full or something).
I know to be effective, you need to concentrate on changing one behavior at a time, but with my time constraints, I'm probably going to need to come up with a ton of goals to pursue at once. Hopefully, with having to be accountable for following through (with this group) I will actually stick with some of it!
Marnie
I'm in as well, although I'll be AWOL most of next week because I'll be visiting my computer-less mom. [u]Really </u>needing to get the needle on the scale heading left instead of right and I guess looking for a "magic bullet." I've had the ML book for a couple of days but haven't had a chance to really get into it yet. I've read quite a bit about the Water Cure but hesitate because of the salt intake (borderline hypetension). NoS makes sense to me. So...Goals for next week: 8 glasses of water a day/30 minutes of exercise. (Probably PBS + walking. Mom doesn't have a DVD player either.) Not much point in setting food goals until I get back. (When your 93-year-old mother shags out to the kitchen to make you a pie, you darn well better eat it...and ask for seconds!) Once I get home, I think I'll move toward strict NoS. Good luck to everyone! Less is more!

This made me laugh, Carol! Hope you have a wonderful visit! I did ML last fall for a bit, and actually eat mostly that way as much as possible. I dropped 11 pounds within a couple of weeks when I started eating that way. I stalled out after a couple months and a several-day trip to Disney that kind of put a damper on spacing out my eating. The book is tough reading, but it is interesting to see how the different body systems react in response to what you eat and when you eat.
I am feeling bad today--got hit by a monster cold last night that I probably made worse by working out, but I knew I was getting sick and just wanted to squeeze in the last workout for Habit Formers so I wouldn't fret about it today.
Stepped on the scale this morning and I am nearly down into the 160s, which I haven't seen in nearly four years. I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight before having our last, but that was my postpartum weight from the child before that since I never got it off within the year between his delivery and the next pregnancy due to baaaaad depression. Feeling very positive!!
Still thinking about my goals for the week, and think I have a couple: 60+ ounces of water and really cut down on the snacking. I have a certain period of time when I (lately) have been running to the pantry and grabbing random stuff. Yesterday it was before dinner and I just went ahead and drank some water and ate dinner, but not before I had some of what I had grabbed from the pantry. It's not bad, but I can see how it's just getting a toehold in and will undo my progress if I don't work on it.

Well I do believe Roadie just named our group, AB, Accountability Buddies.
I'll start a new thread each week and name it AB - Week x - dates. We can state our weekly goal, check in, and motivate each other.
Sk8rgrrl, congratulations on seeing new territory on the scale! :D
Look for new thread. [:p]

Sk8rgrll, I do this [u]all</u> the time. My weak spot is when I hit the door after work. At that point, I've been foodless for about six hours, and, instead of going ahead and fixing dinner--I'm sooooooo tired, you know, I've worked sooooo hard--oh, no. I have to practically sit in the cabinet devouring everything I can get my hands on for about an hour---especially crunchy, salty, junky stuff. There are a couple of obvious solutions, but I haven't been able to manufacture the discipline to follow through on them yet...BUT I read an idea on the forums last week to do a set of Hoe Downs or two when the Mad Munchies strike. Think I'll give this a try. If nothing else, it'll keep my hands busy and out of the cracker box for five minutes or so!
Present weight: 176. Goal weight (healthy bmi): 155
Goals for week: (A) 8 glasses of water/day. (B) BWO+ a day from the book. (Won't be able to walk as planned because I broke my toe yesterday trying to walk and carry a bowl of soup at the same time. Klutz Princess. [V] We'll have to see how KLT works out.
Well, off to southern Kansas and total technology blackout. (Probably a good thing.) Have a great week, everyone!

Also sk8rgrrl - Hope your cold improves--summer colds are truly evil--and congrats on seeing the 160's. I'll be so happy when that happens here. Hoping the numbers are still on my scale. I'm still trying to lose baby weight from my last pregnancy as well. Unfortunately, my "baby" just turned 27.[:I]
