PLEASE help me on this one!! I have stage 3-4 bladder and uterine prolapse. Some of you remember that I have 5 children? Well, in my quest for knowledge I came across wholewoman.com and they have a ton of info and most of it does NOT support ttapp stance and exercises. PLEASE if there is anyone who can help me out-maybe check out the website and tell me what you think. Am I resolved to walking on the treadmill only? Teresa, there are a ton of women with this same thing. If you have reason to believe that ttapp would work for them, tell me and I will go over and post about ttapp myself!! I really need some encouragement here-Thanks!!

I don't believe Connie is on the forums, but I want to encourage you to PLEASE check in at the Mommy Forum. If you do a search on the word "prolapse" in that forum, you will find many many recent positive T-Tapp and prolapse stories including this one:

Crystal - Re prolapse conditions there's tons of conflicting information out there. If T-tapp feels good, listen to your body. Also - have you heard anything about CMP? Connaissance et maitrise du perniee (or something like that)which is an amazing program developed by a French midwife for post-partum issues based on visualization and manual pelvic floor exercises (that put Kegels to shame) that has been shown to seriously improve weak pelvic floor and prolapses. They can also be done during pregnancy so you could start now...

I checked out several other prolapse posts. They were all mainly saying to do OIP/HF. Just wanted to remind you that you can't do OIP/HF while you are pregnant. You may want to contact the ttapp office tomorrow for more help with this. :)
Congrats on baby #6!

Hi
I see this is an old post, but wanted to find out if you could tell me how/where to find more information regarding this CMP thing. I've tried numerous searches with various words from that title you listed and have had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Pam :)

You can try googling: Knowledge and control of the perineum
I found a number of (non-T-Tapp) articles regarding this.

Dear Pam,
Here is what I found. I used Babel Fish to get the translation.
http://www.maisondelanaissance.be/perinee.htm

Knowledge and control of périnée
It is about a method of rehabilitation périnéale where the woman learns with well feeling the various zones of sound périnée, this, by a method of visualization.
One uses the image of a small cave whose entry is the vulva. At the ceiling are located the urethral zone, the vesical zone and the collar; the ground and the walls of the cave are the various beams of the raising device of the anus and the coccygiens.
With each consultation, the midwife teaches a exercise and practical a vaginal examination to perceive the answer of the various zones. The exercises suggested are progressive, zone after zone. The woman must have the will to daily make the prescribed exercises.
This approach makes it possible the woman “to be closed againâ€, to acquire a fine perception of sound périnée, to locate the pressures exerted to the bottom with the effort. She will thus learn how to exert movements of increase of sound périnée. [end of translation]
I recently read an article by Dr. Kegel. This method sounds very similar to his, with the addition of visualization. Here's a link to the article: http://www.gyneflex.com/kegel_article.html

A friend of mine translated this for us... (3 babies.. no diagnosed prolapse, but well.. things are not where they all should be I think! LOL!)
--This is a "perineal reeducation" method, where the woman learns, through visualization, to feel/recognize the different zones in the perineum.--
--The image used is one of a grotto/cave, whose entrance is the vulva. On the ceiling are located the urethral zone, the vesical/kidney zone and the cervix; the ground and the walls of the cave are the muscles of the anus and of the coccyx/tailbone.--
--At each visit, the midwife teaches a [new] exercise and touches various parts of the vagina to see the response of each of the zones. The proporsed exercises are progressive, one zone after the other. The
woman must be willing to do the prescribed daily exercises.--
--This approach allows the woman to "close herself in", to know her perinuem, to discover (?not sure how they mean this exactly?)... Which exercises "lower" the perineum. In this manner, she will learn the exercises to "lift" the perineum.--

Crystal, I have been lurking and just had to respond. I have ttapped since 2001. I have had 4 vaginal deliveries. In the middle of ttapping I had to have a hysterectomy at age 34. Ttapp made my recovery quick! I went from size 22 to 12. But, long story short. I am now 37 and just had to have surgery for a prolapsed bladder (cyctocele), prolapsed small intestine (enterocele), and prolapsed rectum (rectocele). This had to do with the extra weight that I carried for years and the 4 babies that I carried. Ttapp made recovery better, but did not totally prevent me from having to have surgery. Regardless of abdominal muscles, a bladder/uterine/sm or lg intestine prolapse is from a weak vaginal wall. You can tone the pelvic floor (perineal area), and your abdominals (which helps a lot), but not the vaginal wall. The surgery has worked wonders for me. I am not saying the surgery is the way to go for you, but that you should have a physician make a diagnosis. You may have something else going on. Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be. I could not exercise (or other things) [}:)] [:I] anymore because...... well you know..... I was in the bathroom when I did! -LOL Good luck!!!!! -Tami

I wanted to put my two cents in too. I had a severe pelvic organ prolapse ... just about anything that could prolapse did ..... I was 49 when I had my repair and the youngest person in my pre-op group
Exercize is a great thing, cannot hurt and will help to varying degrees depending on what is the underlying cause.
But it won't work for everyone. For me it's an underlying connective tissue issue. Weak and stretchy ligaments. Torn ligaments will not reattach with exercize. It's genetic (my mother prolapsed in her 20's) and goes along with the hypermobility.
Prevention is a wonderful thing and I wish we taught young women routinely how to protect their pelvic floor. Anything that increases intra-abdomenal pressure can stress that area. Exercizes to strengthen the pelvic floor are wonderful prevention.
There is a support group for prolapse called Uprise that has tons of info and which was of great support to me during my whole surgical process.
