I have a little hand-held, vibrating massager thing for backs or whatever. I've hesitated to use it because I want to be sure the vibration is okay on the baby, and I keep forgetting to ask my doctor about it when I go in. Does anyone know? Probably a dumb question.:) Just something I never really thought about until recently.

Sweat may be gross, Sweat may be stinky... But I'd better keep Tappin' or I'll look like a Twinkie!!

Just tuck it, okay?

Unless you've been given pelvic restrictions, it's fine. That's what I was told, at any rate.

But give your office a quick call. You don't need to be seen for that kind of question; just ask a nurse and he/she can speak with your doctor/HCP to claify for you.

The PAUSE button is your friend.
You know you want to...P-L-A-Y. Come on, push it. You can do it.

Yeah, I guess I feel dumb for calling just for that, because I know they're busy. I guess it's dumb to feel dumb, ain't it? ;)

The only dumb question is the question that isn't asked. I firmly believe that.

Hi Meredith -

I'm a licensed massage therapist and have worked on pregnant women. The vibration should be fine for your baby. How far along are you? There are a few pressure points you should avoid around the ankles and in the hands, but using the massager on your back, legs, arms, etc, should be fine. It is still good to check with your doctor though, if you have doubts. :)

Hope this helps!

I'm 22 weeks. I don't feel like using the thing very much, but last night my calf muscle was sore and I did use it for a few minutes. [:I] Next time I feel a need I'll call the dr. office.

I see a chiropractor regularly and he used a vibration device on my back until I was 7-8 months along without any concern. However, my baby kicks so much now when he uses it that we have opted to just use heat packs for the last part of my pregnancy.

Listen to your body and your baby to see what feels right for you. I don't supose that your baby cares at all about you using it on your calves but it might care about being jostled from use on your back--for example.

Just my two cents [:I]

Q: "What's the difference between a doctor and a trainer?"

A: "You go to the doctor when you're sick and tired and want to feel good.
You get a trainer when sick and tired of feeling 'good enough' and want to feel great!"

Hi! I was just curious why you should avoid these pressure points. :) Thanks Niina! :D
