I want to warn everyone about a fraudulent paypal phishing email. It looked very authentic. It told me that someone was trying to access my account from France and if I didn't click on a browser link then my account would be suspended. I went to the paypal site in a separate browser and lo and behold there is a warning about this type of phishing email. It looked very authentic and I was almost fooled.

You can forward suspicious PayPal OR ebay emails to spoof@ebay.com to report them. The two are affiliated now and the same department checks out suspicious emails for both.

I have gotten that same one and got it after several official looking e-mails asking me to update my account. Well, after I got the first one, I went to Pay Pal (not through the link) and cancelled my account. Well, guess what, I kept getting the phishing e-mails. I contacted Pay Pal and sent them copies of the fakes. I haven't gotten one since- been about a month now. They did look official, and the only thing that tipped me off was that I had cancelled my account and was still getting them.
Sheesh! Never know what's real or fake anymore. [V]

I just got this e-mail myself. Always send these to spoof@paypal.com.

After referring the suspicious email to paypal I got their official answer that those emails are spam and to be ignored. They said they will look into the matter. Seems like someone is abusing their referral program. Usually spams are so easy to detect but this one looked really as if it came from paypal. However I knew it was spam because I got it in a mail account that is different than the one I use for paypal. Gotta be careful!
