Hello, I just wanted to know who said that kefir got rid of their cellulite? Ive been drinking my kefir for about 4 months or so and have not seen any improvement. So I was just wondering if I might have read the wrong thing.
Thanks.

Several people on the Derya's "for kefirnauts" thread said that it helped smooth out and/or get rid of their cellulite. It doesn't happen for all people, though.

Hi there,
Thanks for your answer!! I wish I can see smooth skin on my thighs but not yet. Bummer! I am not over weight either. I am an O blood type though and I know this type contributes to cellulite.

Heya Yoli,
It was actually debbiesch who got the ball rolling and provided her testimony of kefir's effects on reducing her cellulite. Here's that thread (http://forum.t-tapp.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=48646).

I have to admit....it has made a difference for me too.....and I've haven't been making my own. I've usually consume Lifeway's Blueberry or Plain or I mix them. But, I just discovered that they're offering a new Pomegranite flavor that's quite tasty too.
I don't totally understand why it works, but for me it does seem to help.
Hope it helps others....I plan on writing an article about Kefir and its cellulite connection in spring issue of Fit Body - Women's Fitness.

Speaking of celulite. I can't remember which foods "supposedly" contribute to cellulite..Are there certain ones that we should avoid?

Anything that contains high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners and anything that contains trans fat.

I've got my kids hooked on Kefir, the Lifeway brand because it has no HFCS. I tried the pomegranite flavor at the health expo and it will be my new favorite flavor~! Now to get into the habit of taking it more regularly~!

Maybe I can ask my local safeway for the pomagranete flavor- they carry lifeway, but no plain, just strawberry, peach and strawberry-banana. DD loves the peach surprisingly eneough. I love kefir, yum! I have to drive 30 minutes away to get plain or a different brand at whole foods. I have taken the plain and mixed in a little bit of cranberry juice, that's good too! I have a lot of cellulite, but it does seem to be smoothing out a bit and a little less lumpy- R

OK-- Can someone tell me how to make it.? Its too expensive to drink a lot every day. Is plain fat free organic yogurt just as helpful for celulite or not?....

Thank you My Celia and Teresa,
I cut way back on my sugars and don't eat any Trans fats or any Artificial Sweetners, including High fructose Corn syrup.
I wish I could see some results.

Does Kefir cause constipation for anyone besides me?
I have been using the Helios brand, plain, and love it but it definitely causes constipation for me. I only have 1/2 cup each day.

Karen, I've never had a problem with constipation. My DH who used to have a problem has had no problem since he's been drinking the Kefir. I haven't heard him complain in a long time. You might want to drink a little more than 1/2 cup. The Kefir helps build your body flora (healthy bacteria) in your digestive track. This bacteria (also known as probiotics)is also essential in helping you build your immune system. Just give it a chance.

Karen, the extra calcium in the kefir may be unbalanced with magnesium enough to be causing your problem. You could try taking some magnesium and see what happens. Do you have any Natural Calm on hand?

Sue,
I bumped the kefirnauts thread for you. It will give you the information you need to make your own.

Eileen & Moyne,
Thanks for your responses. I take other probiotics but will try increasing the amount of kefir I drink and adding some magnesium. I hadn't thought about this before now but I think I do tend to have slight cramps in my feet when drinking Kefir which probably indicates the need for more magnesium.
I also wonder if it has to do with my intolerance of dairy which is nothing huge but milk makes me feel weird and too much cheese seems to make my asthma worse. Any thoughts on this?

Moyne! What a GREAT observation on your part!
I think you hit the nail on the head for me. I couldn't figure out why I had so much leg cramping lately during some of the T-Tapp floor moves. I mean, I knew it was due to being low on magnesium, but couldn't figure out why I was. I've been taking large doses lately to alleviate the cramping and KNEW I must be pretty low becuase I haven't reach the bowel intolerance level yet. I've been drinking Kefir for a few years now, but the last couple months have been drinking it more frequently.
YOU'VE figured this out for me, Thank YOU!.
Sad though isn't it? Look how many women (many I know personnally) who supplement with calcium per physician's advice, but when I ask them if they are taking magnesium with it, they are not. Magnesium is such an important mineral and when increased calcium w/o the correct balance can deplete it, health situations can set in.
You've solved the puzzle for me. Now I'll be taking Natural calm everyday with the increase in my use of Kefir.
Thank YOU!

Well, garsh....[8)]...always like to be of assistance!:)
I just remembered a post on another thread recently where someone reported reading that those who drink kefir regularly need to supplement with magnesium because of the extra calcium and I've actually been playing with trying to figure out the right balance for myself. I take the Nerve and Osteo support, which already has extra magnesium, but started taking the Natural Calm at bedtime anyway. I think it may be a bit TOO much![:0] As always, I wish there was a FORMULA![:p]

Hi,
I am Debbie Schrader that started the thread and this has been my experience. I detoxed on Kefir by taking it everyday for 2 weeks. My sweat was not pleasant and the urine definitely smelled bad, which I later found out through research that the candidas was snuffed out and the good stomach flora was replacing it. I have not had anti-biotics for years, so I should have done this years ago. After you read what this process does to your health, you will be blown away. Read my other post. If you are still having trouble with cellulite, lose the soda pop or any sweet drinks that are artificially flavored and sweetened. The reason you have cellulite is that you have too much acid in your body. I am now drinking alkaline wATER AND it is unbelievable what the difference is in my body. If you still have cellulite, read phmiracleliving.com and do what it says. You will not believe the difference. Tell me what you ieat in a regular day and what you drink and I will tell you how to get rid of it. I am an O blood type also with 30 years of cellulite gone! Debbie at schraders@gmail.com if you want to write to me,

Debbie, what are you doing for ph water?? Just curious;)

Debbie-
A few questions:
Do you make your own kefir?
Is it ok to use the Organic Helios brand if you can't make your own?
How much do you drink in the course of a day, and does it rplace a meal?
I really love the taset of plain kefir with a little stevia and cinnamon in it, but I always worry about the saturated fat so I don't drink too much.

Just an FYI, Dr. Perricone drinks kefir every morning. He was discussing his daily routine on Oprah & friends with Teresa & Dr. Oz.

Dr. Perricone recommends several servings a day. It has a substance in it that reduces the rate of bone death by 50-70 %, enhances bone growth, including new growth, preventative and curative effects on arthritis by lessening the inflammation, lessons the inflammation of bowel disorders, boosts immunity and *enhances* weight contril! How about that;) Sounds like you can't beat it and get this, he recommends the Helios brand!
This comes from his newest book, 7 Secrets to Beauty, Health and Longevity.

Ok Kefir lovers! I was comsuming kefir a while ago and got tired of the mess and didn't really like the flavor unless I blended with fruit. But am now thinking I should start again. I took some of my grains and put them in the fridgein cleaned out baby food jars. It's been a few months (maybe 6) do you think they are till good? OR should I try and find new ones? Any one have any ideas?
Thanks,
Terry

Hey Terry,
I'm sure they are still good - if you read Dom's website they let kefir culture (or hibernate) for a year I think it was and they were still okay. I'm in the same boat as you....I have a HUGE jar of grains sitting in milk in my fridge, probably for a good month now. Maybe time to start adding to my morning smoothies again:D
Debbie, I'm going to send you an e:mail if that's okay - I am O+ with PLENTY of cellulite that I would love to get rid of. What type of milk do you use to culture?
Thanks!
