This book was written by Elson M. Haas and is probably the most insightful book I have read on weight loss and health. He is the one who recommeds the lemon juice, syrup, and cayenne drink fast. The first time I heard about that fast(you lose 6-10 pounds in a week), I figured it was too extreme, even for me. After reading the book, I have realized that he holds the key to why so many older women can exercise and eat well and still never lose the weight. I started the fast and it is not that difficult, and I have slimmed down so much already. His premise is that we have food sensitivities that we are unaware of..mine are gluten, sugar, dairy, and peanuts..that I am aware of. I am sure 30 years od diet cokes did not help either. When you stop taking the offending foods, your body excretes all the toxins and excess water you are holding that makes you puffy. That inflamation is extremely unhealthy so very much worth eliminating for health reasons. My body has been puffy for 10 years or so. The abdominal region is where this inflamation parks itself, so no amount of sit-ups or exercise will eliminate that layer of fat between your bra and hips, but this will, I firmly believe. This book is in paperback. I recommend you read it if you suspect a similar problem. Is anyone else trying the fast? My daughter and sister in law each lost 10 pounds in the first week. The lemon water and the cayenne pepper are both extremely alkaline foods so very great for eliminating acid. The lemonade is 2t. fresh squeezed juice, 1t. real maple syrup, and a dash of cayenne pepper in 8 oz of filtered water. It keeps your hunger at bay until all the craving are gone out of your body(3 days).

I am doing a parasite cleanse and I do not want to lose weight fast as this seems you gain it back and not healthy
but I have the stomach fat
so mybe this would help
what are you doing?
I think I am starting the change I will be 46 wensday and am sweating all day long
or seem to be lol
so trying to find what would help with this too

I just saw the article on him from First magazine and it did sound interesting. the same lemon cleanse has been around forever, under the name the Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs.
I don't like fasts b/c for me, if they work it's only temporary and then I inevitably binge right after that but the idea of eliminating foods that one may be allergic to is a good idea I think.
I know there is a direct correlation between me drinking a daily Starbucks latte and having a chin under my chin...when I stop, chin goes away. But right now I'm enjoying them too much. Anyway, dairy is obviously one of these foods for me and if I cut it out, I'm sure I'd lose something right away. So I do believe in the concept.
Good luck!

As I've heard Ginger say "I tapp so I can eat!" The idea of doing a fast scares me! The last thing I wanna do is give my body a reason to hang on to the weight afterwards! But hey if it rocks your boat, then by all means fast for me too! :D

Debbie,
How often do you drink the lemon juice, syrup and cayenne pepper cocktail during the 3 days?? Do you omit all food during the 3 days?? What exactly are you suppose to do the first week and what is the follow-up to it after you have omitted certain foods?? Sorry so many questions just curious:D

Like I said, this is identical to the Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs, which you can read more about here:

I have seen the diet 2 ways with that being all you drink except water and other times you can drink diuted fruit juice(real) and have vege broth for dinner. I do a glass of lemonade and a glass of water all day long. By day three the cravings of your bad foods are gone and you are not as hungry any more. It is designed to do for a week. I have a lot of food sensitivities I did not know about. I have lost 4 pounds in 4 days. So far it has been easier each day. Drink the water or lemonade every hour or so to make sure you do not get hungry.

I read on the site that you should do the salt in the moring. I will try that tomorrow. In the false fat diet book, Mr. Haas talks about all the diseases that are caused by our sensitivities to foods. If anyone tries this with me, it would be interesting to see if the soreness and symptoms go away. My body feels good thanks to the Chi Machine but I would be interested to see if the diet helps anyone else. I know my knees crack when I eat too much meat.

I will be willing to try it:D I will start tomorrow and keep you posted. Thanks for all the info, I have had alot of stomache pains as well as abdominal bloating that never goes away so I think it may be sensitivity to alot of foods??
Thanks and God Bless

This book was very interesting, I read it 3+ years ago and thought he had some great ideas but I wasn't willing to make the changes to my diet. I may have to pull the book out re-read it.
It's funny because when I saw that article on Ultrametabolism in First magazine I thought of this book ..

I am on day 4 and loving it. Down 4 pounds but better yet, my skin is so less puffy. My stomach fat is going down. Everyone who has fat from their bra to hips should try this. Debbie Schrader

Elson Haas' books are awesome. I had bought his books when I first encountered my juice fast. But the lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper drink is ultimately the "Master Cleanse" which according to his book (Stanley Burroughs) should be done for 10 days.
I do have to say that if u do decide to fast, to whatever your convenience, t-tapp is an awesome combination with your fast. You will totally slim down the torso area and your limbs.....at least that's what I have experienced.
I have also taken alfalfa and fibertox during my previous fasts which helps with elimination and alkalinizing the bod along with brushing religiously....very important!!!! You need to keep the body alkalinized and you need the fiber to get rid of all the toxins. I would also suggest that if u do fast to go for colon hydrotherapy. You will feel incredible and totally cleansed. Hope this helps with your journey!!!!! If u have any questions, please feel free to email me. Not a doctor here but an experienced juice faster.

If your talking about the lemonade diet by Stanley Burroughs....he recommends reading his book first (only 50 pages). The book says u can have 6-12 glasses per day depending on your hunger and it looks like people who have done it worked during their fast and also exercised. check out the link below.....

OK! I'm going to ask a stupid question. Why Maple syrup? Why not honey? Or Molasses? Does the writer of the book have an interest in maple trees? Just what does the maple syrup do that others do not?
