View Full Version : Any horseriders doing T-Tapp???

I have been riding once or twice a week most of my life. I do not own a horse, though.
All these years of riding without proper stretching have made my inner thighs bulky, short and sore.
The Airplanes-execise feels fantastic! [8D] but Thread the Needle is so difficult (and nearly painful) for my poor rider-thighs that I really struggle with it. (I am improving though ;))
Any other riders with inner-thigh-issues???
Or other riding-related problems?

sk8rgrrl (Jen) rides horses. Maybe she will chime in here today! :D

I ride English (Dressage). Here in Denmark Western-riding is only practiced by a minority of riders, though it is becoming more and more popular in all of Europe, and I know that there are a few big shows in Germany.

I'm a rider too - dressage for basics and hoping to manage a Competitive Trail Ride or two this fall.
I have my two at home - Radly is an 18 year old Arabian and Pete is a 17 year old Miniature Horse.
I've definitely noticed a difference in my riding posture since starting T-Tapp. Also noticed that when I've had to take a few days off I'm not as unsteady when I start riding again. My only riding issue, that T-Tapp is helping with (oil wells and airplanes!), is a tight psoas muscle.

Hi! As Tina said, I'm a horse lover (and rider)... I do mostly english, but do break out the western gear every once in a while. I've got four here at home: a 19-year-old Arab, an 18-year-old 1/2 Tennessee Walker, a 14-year-old Arab, and an 11-year-old Oldenburg/TB/Appy mix. I do hunter/jumpers, though I don't get to jump much as of late. I am dabbling in dressage here and there as my youngest mare is really quite a good mover and I think she'd do well in it.
I notice a huge difference in my riding if I've been Tapping. It seems like I'm not as unsteady in the (english) saddle even if I haven't ridden in quite a while--and there is a big reduction in my lower-back fatigue. I've genetically got huge thighs, but I'm sure riding doesn't help. I am teased in my family for my "horse thighs". Hahaha.
Anyway, nice to meet you! Always love to meet other Tappers who ride--people who share two of my biggest interests!
HUGS!

Neraddan: I think it may have been you that made me buy the T-tapp-book! [:0]:) (I'm a Booger-board-lurker [8)])
sk8rgrrl: Your horses sound lovely!
The only stretching I've done regularly after riding is on the horse while cooling off, and since I started T-Tapp my range of motion has increased unbelievably! I can hardly feel a stretch in the exercises where I "before-T-tapp" felt an almost painful stretch. The difference is enormous! :D
I hope my inner thighs will "give in" some day! ;)

Thank you! My horses are crazy! I do love them, though.
I think one of the most amazing moves for inner thighs is lunges (especially the first part where you're lunging to the side) and the ankle palm pull exercise. The straight leg (the one you're not bending and leaning towards) can be rotated so knee is going out to the little toe.... Don't move your foot, just rotate that knee.... I feel an incredible stretch here.
BIG HUGS!

I think T-Tapp and riding are a perfect combination for both balance and strength. I really couldn't pick out any one move for riding because it seems to me the entire sequence is hugely synergistic with riding ... even the arms!
Because I too can get tight from riding, I do try to focus more on those moves that help stretch such as PBS, lunges, airplanes or speedskaters, lawnmowers and anything else that pulls and tugs on the lower body. But it is all good!
The best advice I can give is maybe to really, really get the basic T-Tapp stance right and dig deep to make it work even harder for you. If you have that right, then the other moves that use this stance become deeper and more challenging as well.
As for me, I ride english. I don't show or anything like that but work on field jumping.

Sherry, the first time I did the T-tapp-stance was a revelation for me! I have had lower-back problems all my adult life, and the moment I did KLT and the rest of the stance, my back went pop, and it felt as if my body just "found home" in some way. Hard to explain, but nice.
The shoulder-hip-heel alignment is a given when riding, but T-tapp has already helped me get the last ingredient in the alignment more in place: the ears. I'm simply more upright already. Great help when riding! :D
The first time I did the side lunges, I thought: "she must be kidding!" I still use a double "breather" to get everything in place before doing the lunges.
Good stuff all! Happy riding... and tapping! :)

How cool is that!!! Do you ever post? What's your Booger name?
I try not to post too often about T-Tapp on the Booger Board - sometimes people over there get a bit grumpy about my enthusiasm for the workout! I figure the ones who are really serious about being able to change their bodies will look into it. And I *will* keep posting my results. Who knows, maybe someday I'll post before and after pictures and really get the Boogers on the T-Tapp wagon!

Neraddan: No, I've never posted on the Booger-board, but I'm "another" on the UDBB. Don't know if you frequent the UDBB, though ;)
Maybe I should join the boogers and we could make a little booger-tapp-group...(though we may have to invent another name ;))
Back to the regular scheduled programme...

I used to post on the UDBB, got tired of all the 'experts'. The Boogers do great most of the time!
Hmmm, maybe a Booger T-Tapp group would be good - I know a couple of people from there have at least visited the T-Tapp website to check it out. Don't know of anyone, except Molly's Mum's sister (Molly's Aunt) who have tried it, or at least bought the book!

LOL - it's an ezboard message board called the Horse Community. It has a long and varied history, but suffice it to say, the people who started it have a 'boogerish' attitude - take no prisoners, but be polite while you're doing it. At least that's how it was when it started - it has evolved over the years to a slightly kinder/gentler state - which is ok to a point.
So, most of the posters have booger in their member name. Hence the Booger Board.
http://p076.ezboard.com/bthehorsecommunity if you'd like to check it out. I rarely use my booger name, but do use Neraddan on that site as well.

Hey Neraddan! Molly's Aunt here! Just to update you I have the book and the total workout tapes! I've been "practising" for the last couple of weeks and actually have a training session set up this weekend in Montreal with Manon. Can't wait! My sister will be up visiting in a couple of weeks and I'm going to convert her hehe! Can I join your booger board tapper group even if I don't ride any more?! I haven't been on a horse in over 20 years! When I was a teenager I lived practically lived at the barn!
I'll keep you posted on my progress!

I went and I plan to look around a bit more. I already had an ezboard username, so look for me there (nomilknocookies) should I plan to have anything worth saying. :D:D

LOL! Jen, I saw the nomilknocookies name at the top of the Booger Board and was going to ask you to introduce yourself! Obviously didn't know it was you til now!
Steph! Get Zoe hooked on T-Tapp - tell her it will make miles of difference in her riding. Good luck with your session with Manon - correct form makes a huge difference (says me who took months to figure out I wasn't *really* locking my lats!)
