I have already posted this under a few other items but wanted to share it with everyone. I have received so many nice emails and prayers from TTapp members. I just wanted to say thank you. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
Here is my viewpoint from over here:
I was very frightened until yesterday evening. (I have been here 9 years and that is the first time.) I was not going to go to work on Wed. then decided I am not going to let the idiots I work with some of whom were glad of the tragedy see that it had gotten, me as an American, down. Then as the day wore on I got mad. So I am continuing on with my life and not hiding the fact that I am American. I did have alot of staff come and give their regrets, including a very nice Iraqi OB/Gyn doctor. She is a lovely person. Everyone, Brits and Americans, alike are keeping a some what low profile because there are fanatics here especially in Riyadh.
Many innocent lives were taken and by cowards who as they say 'hide in the shadows'. They are afraid to face us up front because we are Americans. And they are afraid of us which is shown in how they have gone about this horrible massacre of human life. Unfortunately it will change the way we all live forever probably - and not just Americans. Most of my friends here are Brits and they have all been so supportive. Recently a number of them left due to end of contract, all have either sent emails or called. This has brought us not only as a Nation together but as a global community. It has not weakened us but made us stronger.
Again thank you for your prayers. Mine are with you and everyone, who is affected by this terrible tragedy. And that is the whole world.
Those are my thoughts and in addition after seeing the post for "Yellow Ribbon", as of my return to work on Saturday (Thurs. and Fri are our weekends) - I am going to proudly wear a small American flag. I will not let any of those who think they have won a victory on the US, see me cringe, hide or even think that I would run. I am proud to be American - even more so since this tragedy. We are truly a great Nation now who has come together in this terrible face of adversity and tragedy.
Again thank everyone for their support and prayers for us in the Middle East.
Regards, Pam
