First of all this isn’t really about exercising on Thanksgiving weekend. It’s about recommitting to fitness on a personal level during a time of year when it’s so common to fall off the fitness wagon. It’s also about a sense of community and family, the T-Tapp family. The really cool thing about the T-Tapp lifestyle (and that’s how I think of it) is that you are never alone. There is also someone out there to give you support and encouragement. I'd like to celebrate that. During the first T-Tapp walk I felt an amazing sense of being close to you all even though my son and I were walking in the national forest miles from other people.

Because it isn’t just about exercising you need not commit a huge block of time. It can be as simple as doing a PBS, a set of hoe downs or a 10 minute walk on any one day of the weekend.

I and possibly Diane (are you still with me Diane?) will be checking in each day barring any huge snowstorms with computer outages. So if Thursday is the best day for you, do your challenge on Thursday, if Friday works better then that’s fine too. Saturday, Sunday it all works! If you are really psyched and want to do a 4-day “bootcamp” that will also work. It’s all about what you can and want to fit into your life that weekend. Because guess what??

One of the reasons that people fall off of the exercise wagon during this time of the year is that they don’t make their fitness plan fit their life. They either shoot too high or conversely ditch it all because they realize that they won’t be able to keep up with their present plan.

I will be coming off of the Philly clinic so I have a feeling that I’ll be excited and may plan some exercise for each day of the weekend. So if you’re a person who will be having a calm weekend without a lot of family commitments feel free to join me.

So I guess we’ve entered the planning phase of this thing. Take this coming week to really ponder on which day(s) you want to participate, the time you’ll have available during that day or days and what you think you’d like to do. You need not post it here but if you feel it will help your commitment to yourself and the community you may post it.

So here’s to a great T-Tapp Turkey Trot, a wonderful holiday kick off and a holiday season filled with sane workouts to help us enjoy the holidays and their abundance while we stay fit and healthy.
