Anyone have any recommendations on clearing up acne flares? I'm currently broken out on my chest and will probably break out all over after I have this baby! I don't really want to use prescription creams.

Thanks!

Cleanse Thoroughly your skin do massage Cleanser into skin for 1-2 minutes to exfoliate dead skin cells and oils. This helps the medication to penetrate pores. Then after that use toner.Drink lots of water and eat healthy.I think you can use Benzoyl Peroxide and Erythromycin ask for that to your dermatologist. But strictly avoid Accutane.

Stay clear of Benzoyl Peroxide - seriously it will do you no good long term. Google it, and you will see there is quite a few theories about its potential for longer term damage to the skin. I know several people who used it and managed to undo the damage it did, but its not an easy journey at all and one best avoided.

Tea Tree Essential Oil applied topically either neat (without a carrier oil, if it doesn't bother you) or mixed with a carrier.

Abbie, sounds like CO would be a good carrier oil

I had acne during and postpartum during 9 pregnancies. On our 10th pregnancy through a series of events I figured out drinking milk is what was causing my acne. I could "eat" dairy, just not drink it. It should only take 3-4 days to start to clear up if that is your problem. It will probably take a bit longer to totally heal. It is a simple thing you could try at least!

Blessings,
Angie

AnaLee,

This is late in replying, but I just saw this post. I too have an acne condition. But guess what? It is clearing up!

Your skin is a strong diagnosing organ. It will very effectively and quickly tell you something is going on. If you have ruled out food allergies, I recommend working on your gut. Try to optimize your good bacteria. I have been doing this, and in 3 days I saw a huge difference! I am almost clear. This morning I smiled at myself in the mirror! Trust me, my acne was bad! I had just gotten off birth control a few months prior, so my hormones were way out of wack.

I am trying to take "probiotics" through food. I made Beet Kvass, which is loaded with live bacteria. It is also a good blood tonic and liver cleanser. It's a traditional drink that lost it's footing in America, but is still big in Russia. Many people drink it there, and you can even get it at the local gas station. It takes five minutes to make, just let the time to do the work. In 2 days, you will have your tonic. At first I thought the idea of doing this was weird, if not a little scary. Out of desperation I tried it, and i am so glad I did!

These are good sites with info on the beet Kvass and fermented foods.

I attribute my clearing skin to working on myself from the inside out, but doing some topical things won't hurt. I have been washing my skin with gentle things, like plain water (for the face) and African black soap (for my body whenever I shower) I then use sweet almond oil as my lotion from head to toe, and then I spray on lavender water that I made. I just put a few drops of lavender oil in a small sparay bottle, and filled it up with water. I spray it on, let the skin air dry and put on the SA oil. That's it. The lavender oil is good at calming redness and is also an anti-bacterial. I could never use tea-tree, it was too harsh for my skin.

Also, I take my make up off with the SA oil as well. Works wonderfully!

Or, you could wait it out. Your acne sounds to me like it's just hormonal. If acne is not normal to you and you have a healthy gut with no food allergies, it's your little one that is the culprit!

Just my thoughts. Hope this helps.

Nicole

I think using coconut oil is an individual thing. I have used it twice, and both times my skin broke out. I have had success using both cold cream in the winter, and the combo of Aveeno + witchazel.

Stay away from chocolate. Use a colonic.
