Ok...I admit I'm behind times...but I've just not wanted a cell phone. Although there have been times I could have used one. Now, however, I need to get one...but not for normal, everyday use.
Last week, my elderly dad (85yo) fell down in a grocery store parking lot. It's amazing he didn't break anything because he fell on his face! Paramedics took him to the hospital where he was treated and had stitches put in. He tried to reach me unsuccessfully. I tried to reach him unsuccessfully too...as I became worried about him. Apparently this whole experience kept him in the ER for about 4 hours.
Here's where I could have used a cell phone. I really only want it for such situations. You won't see me blabbing on it in line at the bank or in the grocery store. But it would make me accessible to my dad.
Trying to comparison shop is like comparing apples to oranges. It's so confusing out there. I was thinking maybe a pre-paid plan might...in the long run be cheaper w/o the committment to a monthly fee and contract, since I would use it just minimally. I know I won't get a free phone or discounted one w/ this kind of plan. I also know w/ any plan it depends on where you live.
I'm hoping I can get some input here. Any suggestions...words of wisdom from experienced users. Just keep in mind, at least for now, my needs are very minimal. If they were to accelerate, I guess I could change to a contractual plan. But, maybe pre-paid isn't the way to go. Can you tell I'm one confused lady.
Thanks
