Hi Carol,
With your expertise in education, I thought I would ask for your advice. I have a 5-year-old daughter in Kindergarten and a 3-year-old daughter in Pre-School. We live in a good school district, but with my husband and me working full time we don't get a chance to see how the girls are doing in school personally. So many times parents leave their children’s learning solely up to the teachers. I think the parents should have an active part in their learning.
I have a 21-year-old son (yes I started over) that had problems reading and his teacher didn't inform me until May in First Grade. That meant that he was 1 year behind all the rest of the students when he entered 2nd Grade. It took him until 5th Grade to get caught up. I don't want this to happen to my girls. Can you recommend any books, website, etc. that I can use to assist my girls in learning. They are both very smart, but my son is also, and I don't want their education to suffer because they have both parents that work. I have gotten an assortment of Pre-School books, but none of them have a specific curriculum as to what a child needs to learn when. If you could help with this, I would appreciate it.
Have A Great Day,
Rosies Mom
